Join us for a Christmas in July celebration on 7/29 at 8:30 a.m., at the Fluor Field 500 Club! You know The Salvation Army for its iconic Red Kettles and bell ringers each holiday season. But we feel the Christmas spirit all year long.

We'll enjoy a delicious breakfast, honor last year's Red Kettle top fundraising volunteers, and hear from special guest, Clemson Head Baseball Coach Eric Bakich. You'll also have a chance to win a baseball signed by the 2025-26 Clemson Tigers Baseball Team, Luxury Box Tickets to a Greenville Drive Game, and more!

The proceeds raised at our Christmas in July event support The Salvation Army of Greenville's mission work, including:
* Providing emergency shelter to men, women and children 365 days a year
* Preparing food boxes for individuals and families experiencing food insecurity
* Assisting those struggling to make ends meet with utility and rent so they can stay in their homes
* Coordinating disaster relief for those who have lost everything due to fire or other natural disaster
* Providing spiritual and emotional care to those in need

Need knows no season. We hope you'll join us for this festive event as we work together to make a positive impact in Greenville all year long.

🍩 We celebrated National Donut Day today by sharing donuts with first responders across Greenville as a way to say THANK YOU for all they do to keep us safe!

🍩National Donut Day was established in 1938 to honor the women who volunteered with The Salvation Army to provide spiritual and emotional care, critical supplies, and freshly fried donuts to American soldiers on the front lines of World War I. These women became known as “Donut Lassies,” and today, their legacy is a reminder that small acts of kindness can carry enormous joy.

🍩Nearly nine decades later, The Salvation Army continues to provide essential services and programs to our neighbors in need across Greenville County. In our area, we provide shelter, food, clothing and utilities/rent support to help those struggling to make ends meet.

🍩 We'd also like to thank Walmart, Harris Teeter, and Quality Foods for donating the donuts for us to share with our amazing first responders today! 🙌

Ahead of National Donut Day this Friday, we're sharing a donut recipe similar to the one the Lassies used to help serve troops in France during World War I.

A Recipe from the Front Lines
Yields 60 Donuts 🍩

INGREDIENTS

2 large eggs
5 cups flour
2 cups sugar
5 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 tablespoon salt
1 3/4 cups milk
1 tub lard*
*This can be substituted with butter or vegetable oil

DIRECTIONS
Combine all ingredients (except for lard) to make dough.
Thoroughly knead dough, roll smooth, and cut into rings that are less than 1/4 inch thick.
Drop the rings into the lard, making sure the fat is hot enough to brown the donuts gradually. Turn the donuts slowly several times.
When browned, remove donuts and allow excess fat to drip off.
Dust with powdered sugar. Let cool, and enjoy!

National Donut Day 🍩 Day is this Friday, June 5! Here are some fun facts about this sweet day you may not know:

🍩 Over 10 billion donuts are made in the U.S. each year, and the average American eats about 31 DONUTS ANNUALLY.

🍩 The Salvation Army officially founded National Donut Day in 1938 in CHICAGO.

🍩 The world donut-eating record belongs to James Webb, who ate 64 GLAZED DONUTS in roughly eight minutes in 2025. This surpassed his previous record of 59.5 at The Salvation Army National Donut Day World Donut Eating Championship,
raising funds and awareness for The Salvation Army’s programs that serve VETERANS IN NEED.

🍩 The largest donut ever made was a 1.7-TON jelly-filled donut.

🍩 During World War I, The Salvation Army DONUT LASSIES were American volunteers and Salvation Army officers who fried dough on the front lines in France. To both honor their service and raise funds for those affected by the Great Depression, The Salvation Army established National Donut Day in 1938.
