Camp Griggs began in 2019 as a collaborative experiment with one of our partners, Grace Church. We kicked off with a week-long basketball camp, pleasantly surprised by its success. The following year, in 2020, we expanded it into a two-week VBS style event. Despite the stifling heat in our gym and the challenges posed by mask mandates, the kids eagerly returned for the second week. This enthusiasm encouraged us to extend the camp to three consecutive weeks in subsequent years, & now we run it for four weeks.
The kids of Poe Mill and the surrounding community get to come hear the gospel, have lunch, do crafts, play games and go on field trips to places like the Children’s Museum of the Upstate.
We have seen this summer ministry change lives as some of our jr. staff this year were once campers. Now they’re working, leading, and even sharing the gospel themselves.
