HYMN OF THE DAY
Second Sunday after Pentecost (Proper 5A)
June 7, 2026

"Let Me Be Thine Forever" (LSB 689)

1. Let me be Thine forever,
My faithful God and Lord;
Let me forsake Thee never
Nor wander from Thy Word.
Lord, do not let me waver,
But give me steadfastness,
And for such grace forever
Thy holy name I’ll bless.

2. Lord Jesus, my salvation,
My light, my life divine,
My only consolation,
O make me wholly Thine!
For Thou hast dearly bought me
With blood and bitter pain.
Let me, since Thou hast sought me,
Eternal life obtain.

3. And Thou, O Holy Spirit,
My comforter and guide,
Grant that in Jesus’ merit
I always may confide,
Him to the end confessing
Whom I have known by faith.
Give me Thy constant blessing
And grant a Christian death.

PRAYER OF THE CHURCH
Second Sunday after Pentecost (Proper 5A)
June 7, 2026

In peace, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For repentance, that the Lord who both strikes down and heals would revive us and raise us up to live before Him, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For the ongoing call of pastors, that as Matthew left his tax booth for the apostolic ministry, so men in our day would enter into this ministry to proclaim God’s Word and administer His Sacraments in righteousness, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For parents, that our Father in heaven would strengthen them to train their children diligently, defend them from discouragement and apathy, and convince them that He is able to do what He has promised, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For peace among the nations, that our Lord, who calls everything into existence and governs it for good, would guide those in authority to reflect His order and purpose in their work, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For those suffering from illness, that according to the compassion of our great Physician they might be restored to health and strength; and that they might remain firm in faith and trust in the midst of these difficulties, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For those who receive the Lord’s Supper this day, that they would hold firmly to the promises of their righteous Savior who was handed over for our trespasses and raised again for our justification; and that the presence of His crucified and risen body would forgive, nourish and strengthen their faith, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For a cheerful and willing spirit, that God would preserve us from a grudging heart and lead us joyfully to pursue good because of the good done for us in Christ, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For His kindness to Abraham, Sarah and all the saints who have received Christ’s eternal promises, let us give thanks to the Lord; and that He would preserve us in faith and righteousness to glorify Him now and forever, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

To Him we give all glory, honor and worship, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

HYMN OF THE DAY
The Holy Trinity
May 31, 2026

"Come, Holy Ghost, Creator Blest" (LSB 498)

1. Come, Holy Ghost, Creator blest,
And make our hearts Your place of rest;
Come with Your grace and heav’nly aid,
And fill the hearts which You have made.

2. To You, the Counselor, we cry,
To You, the gift of God Most High;
The fount of life, the fire of love,
The soul’s anointing from above.

3. In You, with graces sevenfold,
We God’s almighty hand behold
While You with tongues of fire proclaim
To all the world His holy name.

4. Your light to ev’ry thought impart,
And shed Your love in ev’ry heart;
The weakness of our mortal state
With deathless might invigorate.

5. Drive far away our wily foe,
And Your abiding peace bestow;
With You as our protecting guide,
No evil can with us abide.

6. Teach us to know the Father, Son,
And You, from both, as Three in One
That we Your name may ever bless
And in our lives the truth confess.

7. Praise we the Father and the Son
And Holy Spirit, with them One,
And may the Son on us bestow
The gifts that from the Spirit flow!

PRAYER OF THE CHURCH
The Holy Trinity
May 31, 2026

In peace, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For the Church of God, called out of darkness into His marvelous light and purchased with the precious blood of Christ, that she would be kept in the true faith, without error, schism or compromise, until He welcomes her home as His spotless bride, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For the floor committees who prepare the work of our Synod’s convention, that they would walk in a manner worthy of Christ and be guided by God’s Word throughout their labors, so that the Lord’s good and gracious will may be done among us, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For creation and the good gift of man and woman with whom God has crowned it, let us give thanks to the Lord; and for His continued blessing of marriage with its callings and promises, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For nations, governments, leaders and civil servants, that peace and justice may abide here in our land and throughout the world, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For those afflicted in body or mind, soul or spirit, that the Lord would give them grace to entrust themselves to their Savior’s loving hands and to await relief according to His good and gracious will, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For all who receive the blessed Sacrament, that they may show forth the fruits of the Spirit in lives of faith, repentance and goodness, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For wisdom, that as faithful stewards we may govern His creation well and use the earth’s resources in a God-pleasing manner, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

Lord God, heavenly Father, You have called Your Church from every tribe and nation. Grant that Your people throughout the world would rejoice in the death and resurrection of Christ and live as those who have died and risen with Him in Holy Baptism; through the same Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

HYMN OF THE DAY
Seventh Sunday of Easter
May 17, 2026

"Christ Is the World’s Redeemer" (LSB 539)

1. Christ is the world’s Redeemer,
The lover of the pure,
The font of heav’nly wisdom,
Our trust and hope secure,
The armor of His soldiers,
The Lord of earth and sky,
Our health while we are living,
Our life when we shall die.

2. Christ has our host surrounded
With clouds of martyrs bright,
Who wave their palms in triumph
And fire us for the fight.
Then Christ the cross ascended
To save a world undone
And, suff’ring for the sinful,
Our full redemption won.

3. Down through the realm of darkness
He strode in victory,
And at the hour appointed
He rose triumphantly.
And now, to heav’n ascended,
He sits upon the throne
Whence He had ne’er departed,
His Father’s and His own.

4. Glory to God the Father,
The unbegotten One,
All honor be to Jesus,
His sole-begotten Son,
And to the Holy Spirit—
The perfect Trinity.
Let all the worlds give answer:
Amen! So let it be.

PRAYER OF THE CHURCH
Seventh Sunday of Easter
May 17, 2026

In peace, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For true humility after the likeness of Christ, that we would never be arrogant or prideful and thus provoke God’s wrath, but in all lowliness be made partakers of His grace, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For pastors, that they may faithfully lead their flocks, proclaim the Law and Gospel for the good of God’s people, and be shielded from the assaults of the devil, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For parents, that they may bring up their children to resist temptation and endure all for the sake of Christ, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For rulers who are set against all oppression and plead the cause of the widow, the fatherless and all those outcast, that we may live together in peace and holy joy, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For the sick and those in any need, that the dawning light of the new creation in Christ would sustain them in faith; and that, according to God’s will, they would be granted renewed health as a foretaste of their eternal healing in Him, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For faith to recognize the body and blood of our Lord Jesus and to receive this blessed food in the Holy Communion; and for guidance to live faithfully here on earth until we live with Him eternally, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For those who grieve, that Christ would comfort them with the promise that He loves them with an everlasting love and will raise His people to eternal life, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

Lord God, heavenly Father, inasmuch as the adversary continually afflicts us and as a roaring lion walks about, seeking to devour us: We implore You for the sake of the suffering and death of Your Son, Jesus Christ, to help us by the grace of the Holy Spirit and to strengthen our hearts by Your Word, that our enemy may not prevail over us, but that we may evermore abide in Your grace and be preserved unto everlasting life; through the same Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

HYMN OF THE DAY
Sixth Sunday of Easter
May 10, 2026

"Dear Christians, One and All, Rejoice" (LSB 556)

1. Dear Christians, one and all, rejoice,
With exultation springing,
And with united heart and voice
And holy rapture singing,
Proclaim the wonders God has done,
How His right arm the vict’ry won.
What price our ransom cost Him!

2. Fast bound in Satan’s chains I lay;
Death brooded darkly o’er me.
Sin was my torment night and day;
In sin my mother bore me.
But daily deeper still I fell;
My life became a living hell,
So firmly sin possessed me.

3. My own good works all came to naught,
No grace or merit gaining;
Free will against God’s judgment fought,
Dead to all good remaining.
My fears increased till sheer despair
Left only death to be my share;
The pangs of hell I suffered.

4. But God had seen my wretched state
Before the world’s foundation,
And mindful of His mercies great,
He planned for my salvation.
He turned to me a father’s heart;
He did not choose the easy part
But gave His dearest treasure.

5. God said to His belovèd Son:
“It’s time to have compassion.
Then go, bright jewel of My crown,
And bring to all salvation.
From sin and sorrow set them free;
Slay bitter death for them that they
May live with You forever.”

6. The Son obeyed His Father’s will,
Was born of virgin mother;
And God’s good pleasure to fulfill,
He came to be my brother.
His royal pow’r disguised He bore;
A servant’s form, like mine, He wore
To lead the devil captive.

7. To me He said: “Stay close to Me,
I am your rock and castle.
Your ransom I Myself will be;
For you I strive and wrestle.
For I am yours, and you are Mine,
And where I am you may remain;
The foe shall not divide us.

8. “Though he will shed My precious blood,
Me of My life bereaving,
All this I suffer for your good;
Be steadfast and believing.
Life will from death the vict’ry win;
My innocence shall bear your sin,
And you are blest forever.

9. “Now to My Father I depart,
From earth to heav’n ascending,
And, heav’nly wisdom to impart,
The Holy Spirit sending;
In trouble He will comfort you
And teach you always to be true
And into truth shall guide you.

10. “What I on earth have done and taught
Guide all your life and teaching;
So shall the kingdom’s work be wrought
And honored in your preaching.
But watch lest foes with base alloy
The heav’nly treasure should destroy;
This final word I leave you.”

PRAYER OF THE CHURCH
Sixth Sunday of Easter
May 10, 2026

In peace, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

That each Christian, strengthened by the good news of life in Christ, would gladly tell others of the hope that they have, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For Matthew, our Synod president; all district presidents; all circuit visitors; and all pastors, that as they proclaim God’s Word, His Spirit may be at work to teach us all things and bring to remembrance all the Son has said to us, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For this congregation and its catechumens, who have received the Spirit of truth in Holy Baptism, that they may not slip into sin and unbelief but always praise God before the world, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For our mothers, that with thanksgiving we may honor them aright as Christ honored and obeyed His mother while here on earth; for all women with child, that God would give them safe delivery; and for all women who long to have children but cannot, that they may find their consolation in Christ and His unfailing love, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For the leaders of all nations, that those who seek peace and serve justice would be sustained in their service; and that all who cause evil, violence or oppression would be frustrated, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For faith to offer prayer, in all seasons of life and through all trials, to the One who attends to our every cry, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For all who receive Holy Communion today, that they would know Christ who does not leave us as orphans, but strengthens the faith and equips the love of His penitent children with His very body and blood, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

We entrust all these petitions to Your care, loving Father, confident in Your great mercy for the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord, who is worshiped together with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

HYMN OF THE DAY
Fifth Sunday of Easter
May 3, 2026

"At the Lamb’s High Feast We Sing" (LSB 633)

1. At the Lamb’s high feast we sing
Praise to our victorious King,
Who has washed us in the tide
Flowing from His piercèd side.
Alleluia!

2. Praise we Him, whose love divine
Gives His sacred blood for wine,
Gives His body for the feast—
Christ the victim, Christ the priest.
Alleluia!

3. Where the paschal blood is poured,
Death’s dread angel sheathes the sword;
Israel’s hosts triumphant go
Through the wave that drowns the foe.
Alleluia!

4. Praise we Christ, whose blood was shed,
Paschal victim, paschal bread;
With sincerity and love
Eat we manna from above.
Alleluia!

5. Mighty Victim from the sky,
Hell’s fierce pow’rs beneath You lie;
You have conquered in the fight,
You have brought us life and light.
Alleluia!

6. Now no more can death appall,
Now no more the grave enthrall;
You have opened paradise,
And Your saints in You shall rise.
Alleluia!

7. Easter triumph, Easter joy!
This alone can sin destroy;
From sin’s pow’r, Lord, set us free,
Newborn souls in You to be.
Alleluia!

8. Father, who the crown shall give,
Savior, by whose death we live,
Spirit, guide through all our days:
Three in One, Your name we praise.
Alleluia!

PRAYER OF THE CHURCH
Fifth Sunday of Easter
May 3, 2026

In peace, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For all God’s adopted children in Christ, that they would long for the pure spiritual milk of the Word, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For the ministers of the Word, that they may be devoted to their task and to prayer; and for many servants in God’s Church, that neither the preaching nor the care of His people may fall into neglect, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For parents, that they would raise up their children to know Christ as their help and hope, and not put their trust in princes in whom there is no salvation, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For good government; for Donald, our president; the Congress of the United States; all governors; and all civil servants, that they may honor the holy God, establishing order and justice, encouraging virtue, and protecting all life, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For all who have requested our prayers, that the Father of glory, whose Son declared Himself to be the way, the truth and the life, would give them a sure and steadfast hope in Him who has prepared a place for them where pain and sickness are no more and all things are made new, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For the Church, God’s chosen race, royal priesthood and holy nation, that He would preserve us by this Sacrament in true faith as the people of His own possession, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

In thanksgiving for Stephen, whom Christ has received into glory, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For faith and love in imitation of the Church’s first martyr, that we may speak Christ’s truth with boldness, forgive those who persecute us, and fall asleep in Jesus, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

To Him we give all glory, honor and worship, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
