Elias Boyer was born today to Mary and Zach Boyer. Zach is Pastor Diane's grandson. Anxious to meet his mom, dad and sister Freya, Elias decided to come into this world a bit early. He weighs 3lbs.14ozs.

"Elias is a masculine name of Hebrew and Greek origin, meaning "my God is Yahweh" or "the Lord is my God". It is the Greek form of the biblical name Elijah (Eliyahu)".

Congratulations Mary and Zach. Monaghan UMC is proud to welcome Elias into its flock.

As a member of a few Christian Facebook groups I often see posts that say "I love God, but I don't like organized religion". Or "I believe in God, but I'll never step inside a church again". Or "You don't have to go to church to get into Heaven".

I agree, attending church won't get you into Heaven. Only Christ can go that.

Speaking for myself, I need church. I need the community of believers. I need my church family. I need to "Pass the Peace" of Christ. I need to be among those who love each other, pray for each other, and care for each other when they are sick or lonely or whatever. These are followers of Christ. My people. My family. They are my tribe.
