Communion. The CREC is not strictly a denomination, but a federation of independent churches with their own constitutions. We are committed to working together to provide accountability to each other, to train and examine pastoral candidates, to promote the work of missions

and church-planting, and for fellowship and encouragement within the broader body of Christ. We stand within the stream of the Protestant Reformation, and subscribe to the great Reformed confessions and catechisms. We believe in the sovereignty of God over all things, that He works with man through the terms of His Eternal Covenant, and that we as people and churches must continually be Reformed according to the Word of God. We believe that at root man’s deepest needs are not met with economic, political, or social solutions, but with the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. All men are sinners, justly deserving God’s wrath and are without hope apart from the saving mercy and the work of the Lord Jesus Christ on our behalf. We are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, to the glory of God alone. The Church is the body and bride of Christ, and each congregation is a local representation of the authority and ministry of Christ. As a husband loves his bride, so Jesus loves His Church and gave Himself for her. Loving Jesus means loving His bride, and serving Jesus requires serving as part of His body. https://crechurches.org/

Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent, a season of contrition and repentance. The church’s Ash Wednesday observance can be traced back to the early church. It is a 40-day block that culminates with “Holy Week” and ends with Easter. The Lenten period of time is patterned after other periods of time associated with the number 40—including Israel’s 40-year period of wilderness wandering, Nineveh’s 40-day period of repentance in sackcloth and ash in the book of Jonah, and Jesus’ 40 days of fasting and fighting Satan in the gospel accounts.
Yes, we will die and turn to dust—but we have a hope that
overcomes death, a hope grounded in the cross.

Ash Wednesday Service will be held at 7:00 pm on February 14, 2024.

The Song of Simeon

Lord, now let your servant depart in peace, *
according to your word.
For my eyes have seen your salvation, *
which you have prepared
before the face of all people;
To be a light to lighten the
Gentiles, *
and to be the glory of your
people Israel.
LUKE 2:29-32

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; *
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.

On January 6, the Western church celebrates Epiphany, which means “manifestation.” It commemorates the revelation of Jesus to the Magi and begins a season that announces salvation to all nations. During this time, we rejoice in Christ’s triumphal mission of the church throughout the world. Thus, green is a fitting color to symbolize this growth.
