On October of 1955, healing evangelist A.A Allen is arrested by state troopers in one of the suburbs of Knoxville, Tennessee where he was conducting a revival. He drove through a traffic light, was sent to the police station and charged for drunk driving. Reporters are called and take his picture and publicize the arrest. Allen denies vehemently the charges and refers in a letter to the "eighteen years with no question being raised at any time concerning my integrity". Are the charges not true like Allen and his wife Lexie claim?

Many years later, Roberts Liardon actually cracked the case during an interview of R.W Schambach. Schambach who inherited Allen's anointed mantle, told Liardon that he joined A.A Allen's revival team the night before the Knoxville incident. He also told him that Allen wasn't drunk and that he knew for sure because he was with him in the car. Schambach, who was mentored by Allen for many years, was very close to him and even slept in the same hotel rooms. According to Schambach, Allen "never did one thing contrary to the Word."

Paul J. Cunningham, who worked closely with Allen for years told author Steven Phipps that Allen's ministry was a ministry of integrity. According to Cunningham, A.A Allen "worked 20 hours every day and believed that no one needed more than 4 hours of sleep a night." He also added that he never saw anybody cast out more demons than him, which is something that he could not have done if God wasn't with him.

Don Stewart, who inherited the organizational mantle of Allen and became in charge of Miracle Valley after his death, said the following, β€œHe didn't really have a drinking problem. There were very few instances where the bottle got the better of him." In some instances, Stewart took over the meetings for Allen because he had to return to Miracle Valley for urgent businesses, but this kept on adding to the rumors.

After the Knoxville incident, Allen, who kept claiming his innocence, parted ways with the Assemblies of God (he was one of their licensed ministers) and the Voice of Healing organization, and started criticizing traditional denominations for their lack of power.
