The first psalm in the Bible has some very good directions for Godly people. It says, “Blessed is the man who does not walk in the council of the ungodly, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful.” One could paraphrase by saying, “You want to be blessed, don’t listen to, associate with, or get involved with evil people.” The idea is reiterated in Proverbs 4:14, 15, where it says, “Do not enter into the path of the wicked, and do not go in the way of evil men. Avoid it, do not pass by it, turn from it, and pass away.” Both of those passages are from my translation.
So, can God be any clearer how a Godly, Christian individual is supposed to behave? Or whom they are supposed to avoid? Wherever you see evil practices taking place, stay as far away from there as possible.
I know very little about women’s basketball, nor the people who play the game. I only became curious when I kept hearing about a girl named Catlin Clark, whom many claimed was the best girl to have ever played. Still, I didn’t really follow what was going on, but my interest was peeked a little more when I began to hear stories about how Catlin was being treated on the basketball court. After watching a few videos, it was clear Catlin was being targeted in a horrendous manner, and what made it so bad was the officials, who are supposed to control the game and protect the players, were allowing her to be tossed around like a rag doll. Truthfully, had she been attacked on the street as she has been on the court, someone would be going to jail.
I began to hear more about Catlin, and was told these attacks were occurring because she was not a homosexual, and she was Caucasian. Now, I initially put that in the category of people just trying to find an issue where there wasn’t one, then I looked more closely at the WNBA. Nearly 40% of all the players are homosexual. At least two of the teams are owned by women who are married to other women. And the majority of the players, 64 – 70% are black. There is nothing wrong with being black and there is nothing wrong with being white. Revelation tells us John saw every nation, tongue and tribe standing before the glorious throne of God in heaven. If Catlin is being targeted because she is white, that is every bit as racist as a person being targeted because they are black, or brown, or Asian or any other skin tone, or nationality. That is sin, and it displeases God.
I do not know Catlin’s faith; whether or not she believes in the Lord Jesus Christ. I do know that she has a reputation of being a very decent individual, what some would call a “good” girl. So, here is the problem: One cannot enter into the path of the wicked and expect to be untouched by their wickedness. Homosexuality, no matter whose son or daughter, friend or parter practices it, homosexuality is wickedness. Its practice is called an abomination by God.
The WNBA is owned at least in part by people who practice and support homosexuality. Romans says those who may not practice homosexuality but support those who do, are as guilty as the ones who participate. Good people, decent people are not going to be untouched when they work alongside evil practitioners. Why should decent people expect those who are practicing indecency to act decent? Why should those who claim the name of Christ have anything to do with a group, a place, an organization of any kind that celebrates, not “diversity” but immorality? That goes far beyond women’s basketball. Think about it. More next time.
