One: Twenty-five years ago, the foundations of our world were shaken, and we learned how quickly lives can change. Yet, the Scriptures remind us: "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." (Psalm 46:1)

Many: Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth should change, and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea.

One: We gather in the memory of innocent lives lost, families forever altered, and the deep grief that many still carry. In our sorrow, we turn to the ultimate source of comfort.

Many: Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted.

One: We remember the overwhelming darkness of that day, but we also remember the brilliant light of selflessness—the first responders, public servants, and ordinary citizens who laid down their lives for others. As Jesus taught us: "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13)

Many: May their courage inspire us to love as Jesus loved us, to heal what is broken, and to break down the walls that divide us.

One: Today, we do not anchor our security in the structures of this world. We make the ancient declaration of Psalm 91 our own: "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, 'My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'" (Psalm 91:1-2)

Many: The Lord is our rock, our defense, and our guide. In Him alone we place our hope for the future.

One: Come, let us lay our grief, our prayers for peace, and our praises before our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ, The King of Kings and the giver of Peace.

All: Let us worship God together in spirit and in truth!

ANNOUNCEMENTS
1) We welcome Bro Andrew Butler to the pulpit this Sunday as Bro. Bren and
Sister Mary participate in Veterans 9/11 Remembrances and the Kentucky
Veterans Hall of Fame. Andrew is well known to us as he completed a summer
ministry internship with GCPC this Summer. Andrew is answering The Call to
become a Cumberland Presbyterian Minister and We are honored he chose to
do his ministry practicums with us. Andrew will return to experience our
Christmas Eve Service, Our Maundy Thursday, and Easter Service this liturgical
year as part of his ongoing ministry studies. Welcome to Worship with us
again.

2) There will be a wedding shower for Elizabeth Patterson and John Modus on
today at 1:30 pm CDT at the church. Come and enjoy time with the
newlyweds. Hostess’ Kaylene Bush, Sue Davis, Bettie Jo Russell, Jeannie
Squires, and Suzanne Taylor.

3) Date change – the Session will meet next Sunday following the morning
worship.

4) Worship Committee: a) Be a Liturgist: If you would like to read Scripture, or
the Call to Worship, please let Elder, Ann Lewis (Worship Chair) or Bro. Bren
know. Volunteers are always welcome. d) For those who help with the littles in
the Nursery, there is a TV in there now so you can watch the morning worship
service.

5) Youth: a) Crossroads – continues Wednesday nights – 5:00-7:00 pm CT.

Trick or Trunk – 5:00-6:30 pm CT, Wednesday, October 28;
Christmas party – Wednesday, 5:00-6:30 pm CT – December 16.

6) Phoebe’s Fall Paint Party – Brushstrokes and Blessings will here at the church
on October 17 11:00 am - 3:00 pm CT. This event is benefiting Phoebe’s Bridge
Foundation KY. If you would like to participate, check the flyer by the water
fountain to use the QR code to pre-register. More information will be available
closer to date (flyer is on the bulletin board by the water fountain).

7) Volunteers needed at the Green County Food Pantry – (270) 405-3247 to
volunteer. a) If you would like to donate to the Food Pantry, they accept food
or monetary donations. You may do this through the church. b) You may also
donate to the Green County Ministerial Association. These funds are used to
assist families or individuals with assistance when needed. This can also be
done through the church. c) Blessing Bags – this program is also done through
the Green County Ministerial Association. If you would like to participate – a
donation of $150.00 will feed a child on the program for an entire year. Forms
for this program are on the front table.
😎 Mission Committee: a) Pv2 Katherine Patterson (daughter of Rich & Tina
Patterson) has graduated Army Basic and moved on to advanced training. We
will share Pvt. Katherine’s address when available. b) Please place collections
for the Green County Food Pantry in the proper basket. c) There are car wash
tickets for sale to support the food pantry . Tickets are for Tidal Wave car
wash $10.00 for a $30.00 car wash. The food pantry makes $5.00 for each ticket
sold. These tickets are good till June 30, 2027 and useable at any location of the
Tidal Wave business not just Campbellsville. See Mary Bishop or Lori Matteucci.

Ephesians 6:12 is exactly what we have been living trying to broadcast our worship services online - just when all looked like it was going well - we lost power at the church just before worship and we were never able to get our worship service to broadcast

We had a wonderful service - being unable to broadcast here is the sermon for worship this last Sunday, I hope it gives you insight in your daily walk. with Jesus.

Ephesians 2:17-22 ESV

17 And he (Jesus) came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near.

18 For through him (Jesus) we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. 19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens,[a] but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,

20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone,

21 in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord.

22 In him (Jesus) you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by[b] the Spirit.

Sermon "The Church and You"

Every single day, we step out into a world that feels increasingly fractured. If you turn on the news or scroll through social media, you can see the fault lines clearly.

We live in a culture that is actively being torn apart by division. Left versus Right. Female versus Male. Rich versus Poor. Young versus Old.

We see a corruption of law and power on one side, and complete lawlessness on the other. We watch as our society/culture systematically calls good bad, and bad good.

It is easy to look at this chaos and become cynical. But we must recognize this orchestration for what it truly is. This isn't just political bickering or societal evolution; it is a deliberate spiritual strategy.

Satan seeks to destroy us individually by isolating us socially. As Scripture says; 8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. (1st Peter 5:8)

The devil thrives in hate, animosity, and disrespect. Evil finds its ultimate foothold when we, the people of God, fail to love like Jesus and instead fall into a jaded worldview.

There is a profound difference between being jaded and being wise.

To be jaded is to let the bitterness of the world poison your heart, leaving you cynical, hopeless, and inactive. Wisdom, however, is entirely different.

True biblical wisdom means you recognize danger, you see the harm, and you have the sense to remove yourself from the trap of the enemy’s division—all while remaining a steadfast, living witness to the goodness of God. Wisdom doesn't join the shouting match; wisdom builds what Christ established.

This brings us to the ultimate antidote to a fractured world: The Church and You.

In Matthew 16, Jesus asks His disciples, "Who do you say that I am?" Peter answers correctly:

"You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God."
And Jesus responds by declaring that upon this rock—this absolute truth of who He is—He will build His Church, and the gates of hell will not overcome it. He promised to give us the keys of the kingdom.

Notice the language Jesus uses. He didn’t say He was building an audience. He didn’t say He was building a weekly lecture series. He said He was building a Church—a unified, unstoppable spiritual family.

Our primary text in Ephesians 2 beautifully expands on what this construction project looks like. Paul tells us that Christ came to preach peace to those who were far off and those who were near. He broke down the walls. Through Him, we are no longer strangers or foreigners; we are fellow citizens and members of God’s household.

Paul uses the blueprint of a building to describe us. He says the Church is built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the chief cornerstone.

In ancient architecture, the cornerstone was the first stone set. Every other stone in the entire structure was lined up, measured, and leveled against it.

If a stone didn't align with the cornerstone, it didn't fit. In our world, the enemy wants you to align yourself with a political party, a demographic, an age bracket, or an economic class. But as the Church, our lives are squared entirely against the Chief Cornerstone, Jesus Christ. (Christ IS the Cornerstone and the Church is made up of building stones - which is you!)

You may not feel like you are much but connected to Jesus and each other you play your role and with your gifts wherever you are and you become a mirror who reflects the light of Christ to a world satan loves to keep in hatred and choas

Look at verse 21: "In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord."

You are a vital part of that building. You are not a spectator sitting in a pew; you are a living stone.

God has uniquely equipped you with specific skills, talents, personalities, and God-given spiritual gifts. He did not give you those gifts to be hoarded, and He certainly didn't give them to you to be wasted or buried in a jaded retreat from society. He gave you those gifts to put them to work in a world that is desperate for the reality of Jesus.

Your ultimate job as a member of the Church is to be a mirror of Christ.

A mirror has no light of its own. Its only job is to reflect the light of the sun into places where the sun cannot directly reach.

In the exact same way, you are called to reflect the light of Jesus, shining His grace, His truth, and His unifiers into the deepest darkness of our culture. When the world is screaming in hatred, your mirror should reflect supernatural love.

When the world is divided by demographic warfare, the Church should stand as a miraculous mosaic of different people groups, completely unified under the banner of Christ.

But let’s be honest with ourselves: we will face days where we stumble. There will be moments when we get caught up in the anger, when we say the wrong thing, or when the darkness feels overwhelming and our mirror gets dusty.

Here is the beauty of the Gospel: even when we fail, we have been given the gift of perseverance and grace. Because of Christ’s grace, a temporary failure is not the end of your calling. Grace dusts us off, restores our reflection, and gives us the strength to keep loving, keep serving, and keep pointing directly to Christ in the midst of the darkness.

Do not let a broken world make you jaded.
Do not fall into the trap of choosing a worldly side in a war designed to destroy you.
Choose the Wisdom of Jesus,

Recognize the trap, step away from the hatred, and step fully into your identity as a reflection of Jesus.

Bring your gifts to work, rely on His endless grace when you fall short, and let us rise together, pointing a dark world toward the unstoppable light of Jesus Christ.
Amen.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family upon this loss of the Brides Grandmother. Hostess’ Kaylene Bush, Sue Davis, Bettie Jo Russell, Jeannie Squires and Suzanne Taylor will arrange.
