This summer, Greensboro United Church of Christ is collecting supplies for Kids’ Kits distributed through Church World Service. These kits provide children with basic school and art supplies that encourage learning, creativity, and a sense of care and dignity. The kits are used by partner organizations serving children and families facing poverty, displacement, disaster, and other challenges in the United States and around the world.

We’re inviting the entire community to join us. As back-to-school sales begin, consider picking up an extra box of crayons, notebook, ruler, or pack of pencils and dropping them off at the church.

A collection box is available in Fellowship Hall through August 2.

Whether you’re a church member or simply looking for a practical way to help children thrive, we’d love to have you participate.

All are welcome to join neighbors and community members for a brief time of quiet reflection, prayer, candle lighting, and shared presence as we hold the grief, anxiety, conflict, and hopes of our communities and world.

In a time when many are carrying heaviness, uncertainty, or longing for peace, we invite you to simply come as you are. Together, we will pause, pray, and make space for compassion, hope, and connection.

"When you get exhausted, frustrated, overwhelmed, or rundown, your body is saying that you are doing things that are none of your business. God does not require of you what is beyond your ability, what leads you away from God, or what makes you depressed or sad. God wants you to live for others and to live that presence well. Doing so might include suffering, fatigue, and even moments of great physical or emotional pain, but none of this must ever pull you away from your deepest self and God." -- Henri Nouwen
