There’s something special about gathering around a fire as summer begins to turn toward fall.

Join us for GUCC’s Annual We**ie Roast on Sunday, September 20 at 5:00 PM in the church side yard. We’ll have hot dogs with all the fixings, s’mores, and plenty of time to visit, laugh, and enjoy being together.

Come as you are, bring a friend or neighbor, and pull up a chair. All ages are welcome.

Today we celebrated the Blessing of the Backpacks! We passed the children’s backpacks around the congregation, filling them with our prayers and hopes for the school year ahead—for curiosity, courage, friendship, patience, joy, and the assurance that each child is deeply loved and supported by their church community. Ten years ago, after a season of prayer, discussion, and discernment, Greensboro United Church of Christ became an Open and Affirming congregation.

We made a covenant grounded in the belief that every person is loved and valued by God. We promised to welcome people of every sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, ability, age, race, nationality, ethnicity, economic and social status, faith background, and family structure—and to encourage all people to participate fully in the life, leadership, ministry, and mission of our church.

Ten years later, we celebrate this important anniversary by remembering who we have promised to be: a safe and nurturing community of faith, committed to following Jesus and sharing God’s love with all people.

No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.
