Bring yo Daddy to Church !!!

Father’s Day is approaching, and at UMOJA, we’re preparing to celebrate the men who show up, sacrifice, lead, protect, nurture, and love.

Sunday, June 21st at 9:30 a.m., UMOJA CHURCH wants you to bring your Daddy to church—bring your fathers, grandfathers, uncles, godfathers, big brothers, mentors, coaches, and the men who stepped in when they didn’t have to.

We know that fatherhood is bigger than biology. It is found in the men who teach, guide, encourage, provide, and help carry the next generation forward.

We also hold space for those for whom Father’s Day is complicated—those grieving fathers who have gone on to glory, those estranged from their fathers, and those fathers carrying the pain of losing children.

Join us as we honor the strength, resilience, wisdom, and love of the men who have helped shape our families and communities.

UMOJA is proud to celebrate and honor Rev. Dennis J. White on obtaining his Master of Divinity from Wake Forest University. 🖤

When I first met this brother, I was two degrees ahead of him. Now God would have it that he will be pursuing a PhD before me. Let this be a reminder to somebody:

Don’t fret if you are not where you think you should be in life.“The race is not given to the swift, but to those who endure to the end.”

We are witnessing the fruit of discipline, faith, growth, and perseverance.

UMOJA may be new, but God is assembling a ministerial team full of thoughtful, educated, and liberative leaders equipped to serve the next generation of parishioners and the broader community.

We are beyond blessed to have Rev. White serving alongside us, and we are excited for the incredible work he will continue to do through our Men’s Ministry and beyond.

Congratulations Rev. Dennis J. White! The journey is just beginning. ✨

Yesterday at UMOJA, we declared something bold:

“God Must Be a Mother.”

Through John 3:16, we reflected on the sacrificial, unconditional, and unwavering love that mothers so often embody. A love that keeps showing up. A love that gives in spite of. A love that refuses to quit.

We honored not only mothers, but the women who stepped in and helped raise us:Grandmothers, Aunties, God Mothers, Sisters, Cousins, mentors, caregivers, and community mothers.

We also lifted up the Mothers of Angels—mothers who carry the grief of miscarriage, stillbirth, premature death, and children lost to violence. We held your love, your pain, and your children close.

Thank you for every sacrifice made, every prayer whispered, every meal cooked, every tear shed, and every act of divine love poured into our communities.

At UMOJA, we thank God for Mothers. 🖤
