This Sunday, June 7 at 10:30 am, we will gather for worship under the shade of the trees in the outdoor chapel for Outdoor Worship! After worship, we will enjoy a potluck meal together, so please bring your favorite side or dessert to share. The church will provide drinks and biscuits, and Theo will be making fried chicken! We look forward to worshiping and sharing community together outside on our beautiful campus.

Since Double Oaks is right across the street from the church, we’re also offering childcare and a movie night for children of all ages. You can drop your kiddos off at the church with our background-checked childcare providers. If your child(ren) plan to participate in the activities at the church, please sign-up at: fbcgso.org/children, so we can plan accordingly! We’re looking forward to a fun evening together!

After leading our team in Kenya these past 12 days, Rev. Courtney Willis officially begins her Sabbatical. Inspired by the biblical theme of “sabbath,” sabbaticals are provided by First Baptist Greensboro to members of our pastoral staff in recognition of years of service and for the purposes of rest and renewal. Courtney's 10-week sabbatical includes opportunities for retreat and travel both personally and with family, as well as carefully considered learning exploration to further enhance and inspire her ministry with us at First Baptist Greensboro. We are grateful for this opportunity for Courtney, and for the team of leaders and staff that will support essential areas of her ministry throughout her sabbatical.

Our first Trail Tuesday is tomorrow morning, Tuesday June 2 at 7 am! We will be exploring Piedmont Trail (6045 Lake Brandt Rd 2347). This is a medium difficultly trail. Be sure to look for the purple FBC sign so you know you’re in the right spot! While Rev. Courtney Willis is on sabbatical, Pat Wilson will be leading Trail Tuesdays this Summer. Each time, we’ll head out and back for a total of about an hour, and you’re welcome to go at your own pace.

A great team worked yesterday afternoon on repairs to our Outdoor Chapel before this Sunday’s Outdoor Worship. Thanks to all, and especially Tom Townes and Brad Wall who planned and led the project.

Join us Sunday for our service at 10:30 in the Outdoor Chapel, including music from Lee Atkinson and friends, and a potluck lunch on the grounds to follow.

It's June! Which means you have this month to read our first Summer Book Club book, "The Correspondent" by Virginia Evans. While Rev. Courtney Willis is on sabbatical, Gayle Wiley will be leading our conversations. We’ll gather to discuss this book on Thursday, June 25 at 5:30 pm, meeting outside at the adirondack chairs on the side lawn.

Our team in Kenya is beginning their trip home after an extraordinary pilgrimage with Africa Exchange, highlighted by celebration of the new school that First Baptist's offering helped to build. An update from Pastor Courtney below:

"It has been an absolute joy and honor to represent First Baptist in celebrating the new preschool (Integrated Child Development Center) with the Masaai people of the Nkaimurunya community.

Friday we spoke blessings over the children and teachers who benefit from the school. We received blessing of grace and goodness from the community members who are all impacted by this addition to their village.

Our team remains grateful for the privilege to more deeply understand what it means to collaborate with Africa Exchange, The Maa Trust, and the Masai people themselves. We will return home inspired, thankful, and excited to share our stories with you so that we might all celebrate the work of God together."
