Yesterday we celebrated another wonderful and successful year of Sunday School!
Our hearts are full of gratitude for everyone who makes this ministry thrive - our dedicated teachers, our amazing students, our supportive parents, and our Sunday School leadership.
A special thank you to Sunday School Principal Madalina Body and Matthew Beckett, Director of Youth & Student Ministries, for their guidance, commitment, and love for our youth.

On Sunday, April 26, 2026, our parish family at Dormition of the Theotokos Orthodox Church prayerfully celebrated the Sunday of the Holy Myrrh-Bearing Women.

This sacred day commemorates the faithful women who came to the tomb of Christ bearing myrrh to anoint His body, only to discover the empty tomb and become the first witnesses of His Resurrection. Their courage, love, and unwavering devotion continue to inspire the Church today.

In this spirit, we offered special prayers for the members of our Myrrh Bearers Ministry and their families, honoring their dedication, service, and love for Christ and His Church.

May the example of the Holy Myrrh-Bearers strengthen us all to serve with faith, courage, and devotion!

Christ is Risen! ☦️

Agape Vespers Gospel Reading in Many Languages! The tradition of the Orthodox Church on this day is to have parishioners participate in the reading of the Gospel in as many languages as possible. Languages read are: English, Greek, Arabic,Ukrainian, French, Romanian, German, Italian, Spanish, Persian, Russian, Latin, Chinese! The Orthodox Church reads the Paschal Gospel in multiple languages to symbolize the universality of Christ’s resurrection, declaring the Good News to all nations. This tradition, often held during Agape Vespers, highlights that the faith transcends any single culture, language, or ethnicity, representing the unity of the church.

“It is the day of Resurrection; let us be radiant for the festival, and let us embrace one another. Let us say, O brethren, even to those that hate us: Let us forgive all things on the Resurrection; and thus let us cry: Christ is risen from the dead, by death He has trampled down death, and on those in the tombs He has bestowed life.”

Today, during the service of Great and Holy Saturday, our beloved parish of Dormition of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church joyfully welcomed a new member into the Orthodox Christian faith through the sacred Mystery of Chrismation.

Chrismation is when we receive the “seal of the gift of the Holy Spirit,” and becoming fully united with Christ and His Church. Through this Holy Mystery, one is spiritually strengthened, renewed, and incorporated into the life of the Body of Christ.

With great joy, we congratulate Lilyan Schmitz, who received the name Anastasia, as she begins this blessed journey in the Orthodox faith. May the Holy Spirit guide and strengthen her in a life of faith, love, and devotion.

We also extend heartfelt congratulations to her sponsor, Dr. Mary Ann Contogiannis, for her loving guidance and spiritual support.
“Christ is Risen! Truly He is Risen!” ☦️
