Every child is beloved and precious in God’s sight! šŸ™šŸ„° Sunday afternoon was a joyful celebration of the children, youth, and families of WMSUMC. From laughter and fellowship to fun on the rooftop, it was a wonderful reminder of the gift of beloved community and the ways God is at work among us.

A special thank you to our parents, staff, and volunteers who helped make this celebration so meaningful. We are grateful for each of you!

WMSUMC leadership and staff spent a day together at Greensboro College with an inspiring devotional from Pastor Otto on ā€œavoiding keeping God’s love and hope too smallā€. We also spent time focused on the mission, vision, and values of the church and shared dozens of inspiring stories of how we see God at work in the lives of this beloved community. We celebrated God at work stories that come from many of YOU, like…

+ the support and impact many of you had on members during their illness and recovery
+ cherished, and growing community happening within groups and ministries
+ one finding renewed purpose and passion within God’s beloved community
+ A family who in the busyness of life prioritizes time to be present and steps up time and time again with a humble and servant spirit
+ ECC kids excited for Chapel time
+ Children showing their excitement as participants in worship and wanting to learn about worshipping God
+ A child lighting up after grasping the elements and sacredness of the Trinity
+ A child’s excitement to be baptized and being overjoyed in the moment
+ Eagerness of a growing group to boldly tackle social justice and mercy initiatives
+ Hearing a story of inclusion in a music concert setting that was inspiring to many
+ The many simple, thoughtful gestures of encouragement and support that members provide to staff and others… flowers, notes, and spoken words
+ The servant hearts of children, youth, families, and others preparing meals for Pathways Center
+ The joy of having a family and their special needs son actively involved and embraced in youth activities and our spring retreat
+ Hearing a new member actively involved in inviting and bringing others to experience God’s beloved community

These are just a few of the stories shared. There are many more and God will continue to create more of them. It was an awesome reminder that we ALL are God’s beloved children… capable of sharing a bigger love and hope with others! šŸ™

Join the Chancel Choir in a summer of anthems based on familiar hymns. We will meet each Sunday morning at 10:30am in the Sanctuary, learn an easy anthem, and then sing for the 11am worship service. No robes are worn, but we will have a folder and hymnal waiting for you. It’s a lot of fun and a very easy way to share your gifts and meet other music-lovers. šŸ™ Let’s fill the choir loft every Sunday!

This weekend, our Youth Group explored what it means to truly come alive. Inspired by Howard Thurman’s words, ā€œDon’t ask yourself what the world needs… ask what makes you come alive,ā€ students reflected on God’s call through worship, art, games, small groups, and a trip to the Museum of Life & Science in Durham.

Together, they looked for signs of life all around them—and within them—discovering that when we are fully alive in Christ, we become exactly what the world needs. That’s the message of Pentecost: God’s Spirit awakening us to live fully, boldly, and connected to one another. šŸ”„
