Since we have not been able to gather once again, here is a short devotional/sermon for you to ponder on.
HAVE YOU A RESERVATION? John 14:2 says “I go to prepare a place for you.” 1 Peter 1:4 says “An inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that fadeth not away, reserved in Heaven for you.”
HAVE YOU GOT YOUR TICKET? Our dear friend Benny Gordon led many people to the Lord with those five words. When they asked “What ticket?” He replied “your ticket to Heaven.”
There is a popular commercial out today where three men are discussing the price of their hotel room and one finds out that he paid a lot more than the other two! DO YOU HAVE YOUR RESERVATION? You have no doubt heard the story of our 50th anniversary trip where we thought we had reserved a room at the same hotel we spent our honeymoon in only to arrive and find out it was not booked there but at a hotel with a similar name. We had been at church that morning and after the drive we were a bit weary and ready to rest only to find out we were wrong!
How different it is for the Christian at the end of life’s journey to finally arrive at their FINAL destination, that Heavenly Home. Our ticket was bought and paid for by the Blood of Jesus and all we have to do is “accept” the ticket HE PAID FOR! Our mansion is ready and waiting!
However, tragically many go through life thinking they have a reservation only to hear “I never knew you, depart from Me.” They based their entry to Heaven on good works, saying a prayer with no real repentance and even being baptized, or as sadly someone told me once they had been “confirmed” because of a class they went through and passed or having attended church all their lives. Others think that because their parents or grandparents attended church or someone was a preacher in the family that’s good enough.
My point today is to ask yourself: Has there truly been a time that you repented, asked Jesus to save you and your life changed? If any man be in Christ he is a new creature. We may do some of the old things we did but we won’t be at peace!
Today as we look out at this beautiful winter wonderland, ask yourself that question…don’t bases your salvation on any of the above or church membership. If you are not 100% positive (99.9 is not good enough) then ask Jesus right now to make your heart as white as the snow you see outside right now…I will tell you this - HE WILL MAKE IT PERFECTLY WHITE!
We pray to see everyone of you next week. We love you all, brothers and sisters - Bring someone to Jesus!
