MIDWEEK MOTIVATION

I believe this story says it better than anything I could:

“A farming village was suffering from a devastating drought that had dried up the crops and threatened the livelihood of the people. The village elders and townspeople decided to gather together in a public square to pray for rain. On the day of the prayer meeting, the crowd arrived ready to petition the heavens. However, as the townspeople looked around, they noticed one little boy standing out in the crowd: he had brought an umbrella with him.Surprised, the adults asked the boy why he had brought an umbrella on a completely dry, cloudless day. The boy replied with simple, childlike logic: he thought that since they were gathering to pray for rain, he would definitely need his umbrella so he wouldn't get drenched when the rain finally came.” — copied

It’s time for our umbrellas. Mine is in my car ready to go.

MIDWEEK MOTIVATION

Hello Everyone!
Sunday is Pentecost. It is the second holiest day of the Christian year. Pentecost means fiftieth in Greek. In Judaism, it is the day of celebration of the winter harvest. It is fifty days after Passover. God transformed this celebration with the coming of the Holy Spirit. Pentecost is the birth of the church. The Holy Spirit empowered the Apostles and followers of Jesus to proclaim the gospel and transform the world. We celebrate the power, love and grace of our Lord as the Holy Spirit directs/guides us in our Christian walk.

BTW, formal Christmas and All Saints Day celebrations came later. These four celebrations are the highest holy days of the Christian year.

May the Holy Spirit be our counselor, guide and friend; not just this Sunday of Pentecost, but everyday of our lives.

MIDWEEK MOTIVATION

Hello everyone!
In my last MIDWEEK MOTIVATION, I wrote about a song of the faith that inspires each of us to keep the faith. Another great quality about such songs is the foundation in them. So many of the ‘Good Ole’ songs are filled with stable theology. Read through, not just sing, the words of the hymns. You will find the foundations of the faith coming off the page.

God’s sovereignty, the prophetic promises pointing to Jesus, Jesus’s purpose (His life, death, and resurrection), our salvation, the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives, and the promise of His return are proclaimed in our hymns.

Our hymns inspire us, as well as, ground us in our belief and devotion. The Word read, sung and prayed builds us in our faith in Jesus! Amen.
