Terry Long serves as the church health and revitalization strategist with the Ministry Strategies group. He has been on staff at the Baptist state convention since April 2020. Terry loves partnering churches together in revitalization for God's glory.

Prior to joining the state convention, Terry served as senior pastor of West Burnsville Baptist Church. During his two decades in vocational ministry, he has also served as a pastor of children, students and education.

Terry holds a doctorate of ministry in church revitalization and a master’s degree in theology from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Terry is married to Joyce, and they have five children. The Longs enjoy playing outside, hiking, kayaking and anything that gets the kids’ energy out.

Main Session Topics

Main Session 1: Five Best Practices to Build Momentum in Leading a Church Revitalization: Experiencing a turnaround in your church can take time. At times, this transition can feel like an eternity. Dr. Sam Rainer shares some of the best ways to build lasting momentum for faster church revitalization.

Main Session 2: Churches helping Churches: Over 45% of churches in North Carolina need complete reconstruction. The New Testament presents numerous examples that churches are both autonomous but also interconnected. In this session, Dr. Terry Long will look at the biblical foundation and the current landscape of churches living out their sentness as they help extend God's kingdom through helping other churches around them.

Main Session 3: What We're Learning from Typical-Sized Growing Churches: Nine out of ten churches are 250 in attendance or under. A movement is beginning, and your church can be a part of it. Church Answers has examined what's happening in growing churches of normal size. Dr. Sam Rainer will share the findings in this session. Your church can experience a breakout!

Pastor Sam Rainer currently serves as Lead Pastor at West Bradenton Baptist Church in Bradenton, FL. Sam has a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Marketing from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Arts in Missiology from Southern Seminary, and a PhD in Leadership Studies from Dallas Baptist University.

Sam is well-recognized as a leader in church revitalization and has authored several books on the topic, including Obstacles in the Established Church: How Leaders Overcome Them and The Church Revitalization Checklist. Sam also co-authored Essential Church?: Reclaiming a Generation of Dropouts with his father, Thom Rainer.

He co-hosts the EST.CHURCH podcast and currently serves as president of Church Answers. Sam is also the president of Revitalize Network and co-founder and co-owner of Rainer Publishing.

Sam offers practical advice and strategies for ministry leaders and the churches they lead. Sam lives in Florida with his wife and four children.
