VERSE
“Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?” – “When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, ‘Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.’ So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.” John 6:9, 12-13 (NIV)

THOUGHT
I love the Lord’s math. He made the whole creation out of nothing! He took the death of one man, Jesus, and is able to forgive the sins of every person that comes to Him. He took the boy’s five loaves and two fishes and fed thousands of people. Can you imagine what He can do with our one life if we dedicated it to Him? God is the God of compound interest! He can take the little that we have and compound it into an eternity of impact for His purposes. Today, do not despair if all you have is a few loaves and fishes. Bring what you have to God. Give Him your life. Consecrate it to Him for His service and then get out of the way! God is waiting to compound the willingness of His people.

PRAYER
Father, thank You that You can take my life and use it for Your service. I pray, Father, take what I have and multiply it for Your good. I give You my life, here I am Lord, use me.
AMEN

VERSE
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist.” Ephesians 6:10-14 (NIV)

THOUGHT
It is interesting that when God chose to warn us about Spiritual Warfare and described the armor of God, the first piece He told us of was the “belt of truth.” Truth is crucial to having spiritual victory. Jesus said, “”If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” But today, if we are not careful, we will lose the ability to know the truth. More and more information is being dumped on us all the time. It is impossible to keep up with all the new information. With the increase in media and the ability to make celebrities, we find ourselves choosing truth because of the way it is presented or who is presenting it. It is like choosing a sports team or favorite musician. We have become spectators of the truth. We choose truth without a real allegiance. In fact, many times we decide what we want to believe and then build a case to prove it. We have lost the reverence for truth. Worse, it is a “I can believe two opposites are true at the same time.” So when I am in church, I will sing like I truly believe (And I may truly believe) but on Monday I live at work as if God never existed at all. I deny Christ as any authority in my life. Today we must recommit ourselves to truth. We must dig into the word of God, ask God to speak to us and hold on to the truth as if our lives depended on it. Let us put on the armor of God and stand firm with the belt of truth buckled around our waist.

PRAYER
Father, I know I am in a spiritual battle and need to know, believe and live the truth. Help guide me be strong in Your mighty power as I pray, meditate and follow Your lead.
AMEN

VERSE
“I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate, I do.– What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!” Romans 7:15, 24-25 (NIV)

THOUGHT
How many times have we found ourself in this dilemma? We sit in the aftermath of some mess we have just created and wonder, “How in the world did I get here?” Paul knew what it felt like to utterly fail at trying to change his behavior. Who can’t relate to this passage? At the end of the day we have all felt like the “wretched man” that Paul is writing about. Dr. William Backus, in his book, “Learning To Tell Myself The Truth” explains it this way, “The sinfulness of human nature, man’s deepest spiritual disorder, involves a quarrel with God. Springing from this rift are underlying false beliefs about God and His attitude toward us (Spiritual misbeliefs), which in turn lead to untruthful thoughts, thoughts that affect our feelings and behavior and created difficulties in our relationship with others.” Out of these core misbeliefs come all sort of evil. But Paul doesn’t stop there. He asks, “Who will rescue me?” Then he gives a resounding answer, “Jesus Christ our Lord.” Backus says it this way, “The reality of sin and its effects in our daily lives is not the final word. As Christians we have the ultimate good news, the key to a healthier spiritual core.” Today, come to Christ for cleansing. Accept His total forgiveness. Ask Him to point out any Spiritual lies that are dragging you down. Throw off “wretched man” thinking and accept His grace, love and forgiveness.

PRAYER
Lord, You know my temptations, struggles and failures. I confess I have believed lies about You that I need to get rid of. Help me know what they are and begin my inner cleansing. Thank You that Jesus Christ has rescued me.
AMEN

VERSE
“Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance? Who has understood the mind of the LORD, or instructed him as his counselor?” Isaiah 40:12-13 (NIV)

THOUGHT
We can get so haughty before God. We complain, second guess, doubt, question and offer God suggestions on how to rule our little part of the world. We are so finite and yet we come against the infinite and throw our intellect in His face. Who are we that we think we can advise God? This is the question Isaiah is forced to ask the children of God. Children of God? You would think that they would know better. Who better to know the mighty power of God? Who better to know God’s infinite wisdom? Who better to know the unfathomable love of the Father’s love? But, who better to take God for granted? And that is what they did. Sadly, that is what we do too. Are we not His children? How often have we raised our fist to God? How often we have doubted His word? Who are we that we think God needs to check in with us before He does something? Who are we that we think He needs us to tell Him what to do? And yet, though we get proud and rebellious, God still loves us. God still calls us His children longing to fellowship with us. He is waiting to have us participate with Him in living out our lives.

PRAYER
Father, forgive me for my pride and arrogance. I have so often raised my fist to You. Forgive me Lord. I cannot begin to fathom You in all Your majesty. I cannot understand all Your wisdom or power. Who Am I that You would allow me to be Your child? And yet I am! How I praise You. Please help me live for You today. In Jesus Name.
AMEN

VERSE
“I will tell everyone about your righteousness. All day long I will proclaim your saving power, though I am not skilled with words. I will praise your mighty deeds, O Sovereign LORD. I will tell everyone that you alone are just.” Psalms 71:15-16 (NLT)

THOUGHT
What is your testimony? What can you tell others about God? What have you allowed God to do in your heart, mind and life that others would want to know about? David shared his enthusiasm about God with everyone who listened. Why? Because David had an incredible relationship with Jehovah. He trusted in God with his whole heart and saw God as a righteous God, who met his every need. In this Psalm David is an old man. Even in his last days, David proclaimed God’s power and mighty miracles to the new generation coming after him. Today more than ever people need the Savior. They need to see Christians with a vibrant relationship with a loving all powerful God. What is your story? What can you say about God’s miraculous power? What can you say about God’s faithfulness and provision? So many people never enter a church. They never read the Bible. But every day they are watching your life, listening to your conversation. They may never read the Gospel according to Matthew or Mark. The only chance they have is to see the Gospel according to you.

PRAYER
Father, thank You for Your love. Thank You for Your faithfulness to me. Help me to share Your love with others. Help me to be faithful in my witness of Your power and provision in my life. I pray that Your gospel would be alive and well in my story and then many would witness You in me and believe. By Your grace and for Your glory.
AMEN

VERSE
“If God is for us, who can be against us? -Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? – For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:31, 35, 38 (NIV)

THOUGHT
This is one of the greatest promises in the Bible. It is true for every child of God. Nothing – nothing – nothing can separate you from the love of God! You may feel like His love is distant, you may have doubts, you may be in circumstances where it seems like God is nowhere near, but the truth remains. His love is with you and He is conscious of you right now, this very moment! Stop and recognize His presence. Be still and know that He is your God.

PRAYER
Almighty God, my Heavenly Father. I renounce all negative beliefs that lead me to think that You do not care or have abandoned me. I pray that You will, this very moment, make me conscious of Your presence. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me to really understand that nothing has or ever will separate me from Your love. Thank You for Your great love for me.
AMEN

VERSE
“By their fruit you will recognize them.” Matthew 7:20 (NLT)

THOUGHT
Not all things are what they seem. Jesus once cursed a fig tree that gave the impression that it was bearing fruit, when in fact it was barren. There was something about “saying one thing” and “doing another” that really got to Jesus. Whether it was the Pharisees that posed as religious zealots but knew nothing of the righteousness God was interested in, or a false prophet that pretended to know what God wanted to say and led people down the wrong path. Jesus would rather be with a pr******te, tax collector or lepers that sincerely repented than those that had the pretence of faith. Jesus simply said it this way. “You can tell a tree by the fruit it produces.” Peach tree? Peaches. Apple tree? Apples. Christians? The fruit of the Spirit which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Today, when people look at your life what fruit will they see?

PRAYER
Father, I pray that the Holy Spirit will bear His fruit in my life, so when people see me, they will glorify You.
AMEN

VERSE
“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” II Timothy 2:15 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” Matthew 7:24-25

THOUGHT
It matters what you build your life on. Both Jesus and Paul agreed, you need to build your life on the truth of the Bible. Not just knowing the truth, but living the truth. Jesus said, “Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them in practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Paul wrote that we should be a “workman that does not need to be ashamed, who correctly handles the word of truth.” If we want our life to be established on firm ground, then we need to be grounded in His word. We need to read the Bible, study it and then apply it to our life. We need to live what we read. When we do, we will find that life will stand the tests of time.

PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I want to live my life on solid ground. I want to be able to stand firm when I go through hard times. Help me to read Your word and understand its meaning. Help me to live what You tell me to do. I want to be a workman that does not need to be ashamed, who correctly handles Your word of truth! In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

VERSE
“I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.” Psalm 34:4 (NIV)

THOUGHT
Fear comes in different shapes and sizes. To be sure, there are full-blown phobias and crippling fears that can interrupt our life; but for most of us, fear is more insidious. Fears of rejection, insignificance, and abandonment may not interrupt our life but they can sure influence the way we think and act. You see, our thoughts, motives and behaviors are constantly shaped by either faith or fear. The Psalmist found the secret. He said that if we seek the Lord, He will deliver us from all our fears. Turn on the light of faith and the darkness of fear will dissipate. Decide to seek God today. Move away from fear, toward faith.

PRAYER
Lord, I want to trade my fears for faith. Today, when fear comes to my attention, I will seek You. I will seek You with all of my heart. Thank You that You promise to deliver me.
AMEN

June is a reminder that God is still writing the story.

Some prayers were answered.
Some battles were survived.
Some tears were cried in silence.
And somehow, through it all, His grace carried us here.

As a new month begins, may we walk slower, trust deeper, and remember:
God has never failed us yet 🙏
