New Testament Church of Restoration
A few months ago, the Spirit of the Lord spoke to me and told me to immediately shift our services from Saturday to Sunday. After four years of Saturday worship, I knew this was more than a change in schedule. God was pulling me away from a traditional setting because there was work He needed me to do.
The first Sunday in July, we held our first Sunday worship service.
That morning, a young man came to worship with us. I had met him at a previous New Testament Church of Restoration community outreach event where we were serving hotdogs in the neighborhood. I stayed in contact with him and would minister and pray with him from time to time.
When he came to church that Sunday, he was homeless, jobless, without transportation, and staying on the streets. But he came with one thing:
He wanted to be restored.
He wanted God to give him another chance.
So we prayed over him. We spoke life over him. We believed God with him.
And now, just 60 days after my YES to God and this new commitment, I’m watching the fruit of obedience unfold.
He has a full-time job.
He has found a place to rent.
He is no longer living on the streets.
He is making his own money, living in his own place, and beginning to thrive in a community he once never imagined he could be a part of.
And that’s when I realized something:
My fruit didn’t come in material things.
My fruit didn’t come from simply having more people join a church.
My fruit came through RESTORATION.
A man who once thought of himself as nothing is beginning to see his value again.
THAT is ministry.
THAT is restoration.
THAT is the goodness of Christ.
This consecration process has shown me so much about who we really are as New Testament Church of Restoration. We are not called to simply maintain a traditional church model. We are called to follow the heart of Christ wherever He leads us.
And after seeing this, I can honestly say:
I will never go back to doing ministry the way I used to.
Give me the people.
Give me the broken.
Give me the overlooked.
Give me the ones who need another chance.
Because if Jesus is in it, restoration is possible.
My prayer today is that God would give YOU an opportunity to do ministry in a greater way. May He open your eyes to the people around you who need to know that Christ still loves them, Christ still sees them, and Christ still restores.
This is what we are about.
This is why we said YES.
This is the goodness of Christ.
