As we look forward to our final event, the GOVL Awards Dinner, (stay tuned for Photos!!) we just wanted to shout out the amazing 2026 season that we had!
2026 marked the 30th Anniversary of the GOVL. The league started off in 1996 with 4 Churches, 8 teams, a handful of players, who would have thought then, that we would be here? Thanks to the participation of our youth, dedication of our parents and contributions by our coaches and volunteers, this season we were 13 Churches, 32 teams, and just over 400 players! However large we get, this is still one community coming together through faith and volleyball. This season we had a few shout out worthy moments:
St. Demetrios, Merrick held their first ever home games in their brand-new Gym!
Holy Resurrection, Brookville had their first season with a Boys Team!
Two teams completed the regular season undefeated, St. Demetrios, Merrick & Assumption, Port Jefferson!
St. Nicholas, Flushing A won their church’s first Championship in the Junior Girl’s Division!
Archangel Michael, Port Washington, defended their Championship title!
Our Social Media accounts have reached an all time high for engagement and visibility!
As the League Coordinators we want to thank everyone for a great 2026 Season. Thank you to all the players, coaches, parents and volunteers, for working tirelessly throughout the season to help us make this league all it can be. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Awards Dinner and the Olympics! We are especially looking forward to what the next season will bring!
