TEAM MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
Amy Parker

I work as a Program Coordinator for Milan Prevention Coalition. I am a graduate of Colorado Christian University with a BA in Creative Writing and a graduate student at Southern New Hampshire University. I’m a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist for Tennessee where I get to use my lived experience of having overcome a life-dominating co-occurring disorder to build bridges to other people who still suffer. I have attended national and state conferences, as well as many local and online training courses on prevention, mental health, and substance abuse. In 2023, I completed the Biblical Counseling Certificate program at Southwestern Theological Baptist Seminary and a grant-writing certificate from University of Georgia. I have served as my church’s (The Gathering Rutherford) women’s ministry coordinator and now serve as a coordinator in our team effort of developing a mental health/recovery ministry Crossfire Ministries: Walking Active Restoration out in Community. I'm honored to now serve on the Gibson County Recovery Court team. I believe that the opposite of addiction is connection and my goal with working with people in recovery is to remove the stigma of addiction, empower them with education, and be an encourager on their journey to freedom. My favorite things are church, family, friends, education, travel, teaching, and writing – and they all rank number one!
