Ice fishing was a huge success! Thank you to our fearless leader, Macauley, for taking us out.

We caught plenty of crappie, but the day was anything but.

In case you had any doubt, youth ministry continues to be fueled by chips and candy - see last pic for evidence.

Someday we'll gather to go ice fishing! But that day won't be until it's 26 degrees or warmer on Pleasant Pond, which isn't happening this weekend. Check back at the end of each week to find out whether the conditions are just right. We'll plan to go ice fishing from 12-2 PM the first Sunday that it's warm enough on the ice! Don't know what I'm talking about? Find out more, and register to join us for ice fishing, at maineyouth.org.

Please keep these folks, as well as their leaders and other youth not pictured, in your prayers this weekend. They’ve begun the work of antiracism training, and will be continuing that work weekly through the start of Advent.

We pray for all people who are and have been wounded and marginalized by racism. We mourn our own wrongdoings, and the wrongdoings done while we have turned aside. We pray that in doing the hard work of dismantling racism, we may participate in the beautiful work of racial healing. Amen.

**Thank you to the work of Dr. Catherine Meeks and the Center for Racial Healing for setting us on the right path to do this training.**

Singing and hiking. A moment of levity during our recent antiracism training.

Shout out to Camp Bishopswood, where they learned this song!

It’s never too early to affirm that

This guest post comes from The Rev. Katie Holicky at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Brunswick.

“At the start of this school year during St. Paul's Family Group, an intergenerational space for kiddos and their grown ups to pray, play, and learn together, we began by re-introducing ourselves.

I invited folks to share their names and their pronouns. I shared with our kiddos that they got to choose if they wanted to share with us what their body feels like to them.

Some bodies feel like "he" bodies, some "she" bodies, some "they" bodies, and some may feel a combination of "he/she/they".

Taking the time to do this as a church family allowed for a kiddo to say for the first time to us that their body feels like a "she/they" body. She/they had great joy in sharing with us, and experienced thanksgiving for being able to claim her/their truth at church.

Holding this gentle space together at church really does matter. This kiddo taught me that in a new way.”

Thanks for sharing, Rev. Katie!

Several years ago, our youth decided it was time to start introducing ourselves with our pronouns. At the time, we were meeting in person for full-weekend events. We’d put out plastic nametags, and youth could write their pronouns with dry erase markers.

Why dry erase? Because our Episcopal Maine youth recognized that as their relationships grew over the weekend, they might be ready to write different pronouns on their nametags.

We preach and teach and pray to a God of love. And, we recognize that leaning into the identity that God is calling us to live into isn’t always easy. Our binary-focused society doesn’t make it easy.

Today, we’re showcasing photos of youth, young adult, and adults who work with youth all sharing their pronouns. Because our youth are not alone on this journey. You are not alone on this journey.

There is a chorus of saints surrounding you, walking with you and before you and behind you.

Whatever your pronouns, wherever you are on the journey, know that you are loved. You belong.

We’re celebrating all week! Will you share your pronouns? Join us on the journey.
