This week, I had a co-worker lose her husband of 50 plus years. Our prayers go out to her and her family. In times of loss it is so important to have family and friends who are part of our own inner circle. While I consider myself a friend, I would not say I’m part of that inner circle. Still though my heart aches for her.
If you’re in an inner circle you can spend time with the grieving person. You can hold their hand and pray with them. The inner circle can clean the house or cook a meal and do dishes. So many wonderful things an inner circle can do for those who grieve.
Those outside that inner circle can do much as well. We send cards and flowers. We attend the funeral home and funeral sharing favorite memories or just our presence is sweet. Sometimes just a word to show we care.
As much as we would all like to live forever in this old world we were meant for our heavenly home. And Jesus is the way to that home. He said to His disciples I am the way, the truth and the life. And no one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6
If we are meant for heaven and we are meant for relationship with Jesus there must be a purpose in death.
My late wife died almost 20 years ago. Our children were 16 & 20. Too young to be without their mother. It wasn’t until several years later my wife’s niece told me it was at her aunts celebration of life service that she dedicated her life to Jesus. This girl was married to a preachers son and serving in a church and still needed to dedicate herself to Christ. Her aunt, my late wife would have said it was worth death to know her niece would be in heaven some day. And I agree it was worth all the grief to know there is a new name written down in the Lambs Book of Life. Looking for the good does not come easy or even quickly but we trust in the One who created hi us to give us assurance in Him.

Matthew 5:4

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted

For those grieving we offer blessings and prayers.

Greenfield First on Mother’s Day
It had been announced that Pastor Brewer would be dedicating 16 young children. In fact he ended up with 19 children being dedicated. He asked if others would like to rededicate themselves to come forward and stand with the children and their were a total of 38 children and adults being dedicated to the Lord.
Pastor Brewers granddaughter Danielle Bonaventura who is feeling a call of the Lord was asked by her grandpa to bring the Mother’s Day message. She brought a simple message of truth to ladies and all to hold tight to God. He will bring you through.
Our worship leader Ken Frost has been recovering from knee surgery. So Travis Ball and Harmon Cowart lead in congregational worship bringing a sweet spirit. At the conclusion of the dedication, Ken just 13 days after knee replacement joined the two on platform to bring a trio of worship. Let’s just say God came along and we had church. 97 in worship to God be the glory!

Happy Mother’s Day weekend from all of us at Greenfield First Church.

Whether you’re a new mom or a great great grandma. Maybe your someone who cares deeply for others and want the best for them in life. That’s mentorship which means adoptive parenting and you matter to so many others.
Here is a favorite to many from the Old Testament.

Proverbs 27:17
“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”
This means our great God has put it in each of us to help others succeed in life!

Happy Mother’s Day to all.

We would love to have you join us for our special Mother’s Day Sunday Worship at 10:30am. There will be a special speaker and Pastor Brewer plans to dedicate many young children to the Lord.
See you in Church!
