One Man's Vision. One Town's Spirit. One Powerful Legacy.
Edward Lee McClain invested his heart and fortune into creating places that would inspire, uplift, and bring people together. Many know of his extraordinary gift to Greenfield--McClain High School--but his vision extended just up the street where he built the Greenfield Methodist Church at 405 South Street.
It was no ordinary church. This remarkable structure was designed to be more than a place of worship. With features such as reading rooms, Turkish baths and a gymnasium, it was envisioned as a vibrant community center for social and institutional work.
Then tragedy struck. Fire destroyed the beautiful church, but it could not destroy the spirit behind it. The Greenfield congregation did what Greenfield does best: they came together, rebuilt, and continued the vision.
Now, our beloved McClain High School is standing on the national stage as the only Ohio school in the Final 40 for T-Mobile's Friday Night 5G Lights competition. They are vying for a $1 million stadium upgrade that would create a gathering place for students, families, and neighbors for years to come.
Greenfield’s spirit has endured through generations. Let’s show the country the unstoppable heart of a small town and carry the legacy forward!
