A Benediction for This Evening

May Christ Jesus walk beside you,
the Father hold you in grace,
and the Holy Spirit breathe new life into you each day.
And may you be filled with holy fire,
ready to share the love, hope, and joy of Christ with the world.

A Prayer for Today

Holy and gracious God,

You are the Creator whose Spirit hovered over the waters at the dawn of creation. You are the One who breathed life into humanity, spoke through prophets, strengthened leaders, comforted the weary, and filled ordinary people with extraordinary courage.

Today we ask that Your Holy Spirit would move among us once again.
Breathe into tired hearts and renew our strength. Quiet the noise within us so that we may hear Your still small voice speaking truth, hope, and peace.
Open our minds to Your wisdom, our hearts to Your love, and our lives to
Your calling.

Today, awaken us to Your presence. Fill this place with Your grace and power so that we may leave transformed and ready to serve You in the world. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, who was filled and led by the Spirit in all things.

On Sunday, we are beginning a worship series on The Holy Spirit. This series is adapted from Adam Hamilton’s book The Holy Spirit: God’s Presence and Power at Work in Us.

We start with the work of the Holy Spirit as revealed throughout the Old Testament. Long before Pentecost, God’s Spirit was breathing life into creation, empowering leaders, inspiring prophets, strengthening the weary, and guiding ordinary people to do extraordinary things for God’s kingdom.

Join us as we discover how the same Holy Spirit still renews, empowers, comforts, and calls us today to live courageously as followers of Jesus Christ.

Additionally, on Sunday evenings, starting on Sunday, May 31 at 6:30 PM in the Church Parlor at Bradley UMC. Rev. Steve McPeek will facilitate a study group. Everyone is invited whether you are new to the faith or a long-time disciple. You can buy the book on cokesbury.com or amazon.com. May the Holy Spirit rest upon you and dwell within you. May the Holy Spirit guide your thoughts, strengthen your heart, and lead your steps. May you walk in the Way of Jesus Christ with courage and compassion. And may your life proclaim the love and grace of God; today, tomorrow, and always.

A Prayer for Today

Gracious and loving God,
You are the giver of every good gift, and today we thank You for the gift of
Your Holy Spirit. You do not leave us alone in our weakness,
but come to dwell within us; to guide us, to comfort us, and to lead us into truth.
Quiet the noise within us and around us, that we may hear Your voice. Open our hearts to receive Your presence and fill us anew with Your power and Your love. Move among us as You did on that first Pentecost, stirring our spirits and igniting our faith, that we may worship You fully and be transformed by Your grace.

Amen.
