**Decoration is this weekend June 6th and 7th**

Dear Family and Friends of Wesley's Chapel,

For over two centuries, the cemetery at Wesley's Chapel has served as the final resting place for generations of loved ones. Each headstone marks a life lived, but the dates carved in stone tell only a small part of their story.
As we work to preserve the history of our cemetery, we hope to create a memorial book that will include photographs of headstones, obituaries, family information, and personal memories of those buried here. Our hope is to create a lasting record that not only documents names and dates but also captures the lives, character, and stories of the people who helped shape our families, church, and community.
We invite you to share information about your loved ones. This may include:
• One photo of the deceased
• Obituary
• Military service information (second photo in uniform)
• Family history and genealogy (Listing Grandparents, parents, siblings also buried at Wesley's)
• A Special memories or stories
• Notable Accomplishments
• Any information you feel helps tell their story
Even a short memory, favorite saying, or special anecdote can help future generations understand who these individuals were beyond what is written on a monument.
Our goal is to preserve these stories before they are lost to time and to honor those who came before us by ensuring their memories live on for future generations.
If you would like to contribute information, photographs, or stories, please contact us by messenger, mail or bring copies during Decoration. All contributions, no matter how small, are appreciated.
Thank you for helping preserve the rich history of Wesley's Chapel and the families who have called this community home for generations.
Sincerely,
The Wesley's Chapel Cemetery

Today, 16 wonderful people came together and in just 2.5 hours accomplished so much at the church. Not only was the church siding cleaned , but the community center siding, pavilion, gazebo, playground, and both beaches. We even leveled three foot stones and proudly hung a new flag.
It is amazing what can be accomplished when people come together with willing hands and hearts to serve. We are so thankful for every person who gave their time, energy, and love to help make God’s house and our community spaces beautiful once again.
Many hands truly make light work, and today was a wonderful reminder of the strength of fellowship and service. Thank you all so very much

Today at church, Randy Dunn was our guest speaker, and his message was simply, “Remember.”

He shared a story from Friday when he stood in front of his classroom and asked his students, “What is Memorial Day? What does it mean?” In a classroom full of high school students, no one answered. He asked again, then a third time. Each question was met with silence, the kind of silence that feels deafening.

As I sat there listening, my heart grew heavy. How have we reached a place where so many no longer understand the meaning behind this day? Parents/Schools have a responsibility to teach history, because the old quote still rings true: “Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” Maybe society has not completely forgotten, but somewhere along the way, we stopped remembering.

The truth is none of us are untouched by the reason we have Memorial Day. The freedoms we enjoy every day were paid for through the ultimate sacrifice of brave men and women who laid down their lives for this nation. Scripture tells us, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13. Just as Christ gave His life for our redemption, our soldiers gave theirs for our protection. Freedom has never been free.

And when a soldier dies, it is not only a life that is lost. A family is forever changed. Someone is left staring at an empty chair at the supper table. Holidays, birthdays, and ordinary days never feel the same again. Families are left to pick up the broken pieces the best way they can, carrying grief that most of us will never fully understand.

Sadly, society has not always shown kindness to those sacrifices. There will always be voices ready to cast stones and speak hateful opinions about battles they have never fought and freedoms they have never had to defend. I pray they never have to experience the pain and sacrifice that so many military families have endured.

One line spoken today stayed with me deeply: “Hope transfers grief, and gratitude keeps our hearts soft.”

Maybe that is part of what Memorial Day is truly meant to teach us to remember with grateful hearts. To teach the next generation the cost of freedom. To honor those who gave everything, not just during a three-day weekend, but every day we are blessed to wake up free.

May the Lord teach us to remember. May He humble our hearts with gratitude and inspire us to live with the same courage and selfless devotion shown by those we honor today.

War should never be glorified. Instead, we should pray for peace long after the dust settles.

What a truly blessed Easter Sunday!
We were so thankful to have nearly 60 in attendance, including 10 precious kids. It meant so much to see long-time members return and to welcome visitors we have been praying for.
We had a wonderful Easter service, followed by a great time of fellowship with lunch together. The fun continued as the kids enjoyed an Easter egg hunt in the church, filling the day with smiles and laughter.

We lost Gerald yesterday, a beloved father, grandfather, and faithful leader in our church. The Spirit’s presence is felt even in the midst of this grief. Last night i heard, Amazing Grace the hymn that has carried so many through losses. This morning, In the Garden and I’ll Fly Away played, then at Jeanette’s funeral on Saturday, I’m a Winner Either Way. Hearing these songs in such close succession feels like a gentle reminder from God that He sees our hurt.
Gerald was part of our church family for over fifty years. He raised three children he loved deeply and cherished every one of his grandchildren. He lit up when new people walked through the doors, could talk endlessly about the babies, and rang the church bell with a smile every single time. He always checked on people, wanted the very best for everyone, and made them feel seen. Anyone who ever watched him and Mary Anne together has memories that will bring smiles, laughter, and perhaps a head shake for years to come.
Gerald’s absence leaves a deep hole that won’t be filled anytime soon. But he is Home and at peace, and his life and love will be remembered by all who knew him.

Gerald was born on January 29th, 1947 and passed away on December 8th, 2025 at the age of 78
