The story of Jonah has been on my mind today. Jonah chapter 1 starts out by Jonah being told to go to Nineveh and cry out against it, but Jonah decided to go to Joppa and board a ship, "paid the fare" and headed to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord, Jonah 1:1-3.
Jonah 1:4 - But the Lord sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken.
The church can not always assume that the "Storms" that come our way are just meant as God attempting to open the eyes of the lost. The church must also awaken to that which God is attempting to open the eyes of the boby of Christ!
Just as Jonah acted in disobedience, because he thought he knew what was better than that which God was calling him to. Disobedience is being done by individual's in the church and those outside the church. Repentance has to start within the individual and the church then those that are on the outside looking in can see true Repentance first hand. Once someone outside or "lost", "undone", "sinner" , which ever label one prefers, I like separated from God for that is what we are! We have removed ourselves from His presence, just as Jonah did.
Take a slow read over the story of Jonah and compare it to your own life. The "storm", either, spiritual or physical that God has placed into your life allow it to turn you back to God..
Mattew 6:6 - But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
Please enter into your secret place, Repent, Call upon the Lord, seek His face and His perfect will! Allow Him to shine and bring the much needed Deliverance, Guidance and Salvation that we need to our neighborhood, county, town state, nation. Allow this storm to bring us back to God and back to one another in one mind and one accord!
