The SAWs team had a busy month in August with 4 completed projects versus the typical two usually completed per month. This was a blessing because the month of September has been full of delays and challenges. The team has not been slack however, and all the behind the scenes work continues with site surveys, permits and paperwork, designing and careful planning for lumber orders. The team was busy last week with a pre-build for a project that fell through. This week, they came back to do modifications for their next build scheduled for this Saturday.

We are so proud of our Putnam County SAWs team and the great work they continue to do despite the inevitable challenges that arise at times. They are doing meaningful work for members of our community who desperately need the help!

Please consider supporting this important missional work!

Yesterday our Putnam County team built a long ramp that provided access to the parking area in front of this home. It was a hot day and some of us had a little struggle in the heat, but we persevered and completed the ramp around noon. Our client was very pleased with the result, and the landlord for the property who just happened to be there said that she was very happy with the result as well. Thanks to all of you who helped on this project!

Our Putnam County SAWs team completed project #10 for the 2023 build season. This ramp was delayed a bit due to the weather but our volunteers were finally able to get it completed this past Saturday. Another wonderful project by our amazing team who continue to make such a difference in the lives of those in our community who need these modifications to improve their access in and out of their homes. God bless our volunteers and each of you who financially support this mission!

Another great Putnam County project was completed on June 24th. It was a long ramp and was a little complicated due to the space we had to place the length of the ramp that was required. We finished the ramp early in the afternoon and the client and her son were ecstatic. Many thanks to all that joined us for pre-build and/or build day of this ramp.

Our next ramp is scheduled for July 8th. Pre-build is scheduled for July 5th at the church shop starting at 8:00 am.

Thanks for your continued support of our Putnam County SAWs ramp building mission!

On June 3rd, our Putnam County SAWs team completed ramp #8 for the 2023 build season. We only had 6 builders on site to install this large ramp, but all went well, and we got it done.

Our next ramp project pre-build date is June 21st, and the ramp will be installed on Saturday the 24th. You can call the church office at 765-653-5713 if you would like to find out how you can get involved and support this amazing service to our community.

On May 20, we finished a ramp that some of our team worked on pre-build last Wednesday. This was probably the largest turnout for a build team that we have had this season with 14 builders. It was also one of our largest ramps this year. We launched off a new platform at the door of the house and the topography was headed down, far from level. So, we had to accommodate the downward slope of the ramp. We also had a 44-inch drop from the door ledge making for an unusually long ramp. With accommodation for these effects and the available area, we wound up with about 60 feet of ramp.

The ramp turned out wonderful with a very happy client. Thanks for your continued support of SAWs!

Yesterday, our Putnam County SAWs team built this small ramp. The client was not well enough to try it out herself, so her husband came and tried it out for her and was very pleased with the ramp! Our team of volunteers are amazing people, and we appreciate their efforts week in and week out to help our community neighbors access their homes safely!

Last week we were able to install this set of handrails to the existing steps to aid our client in getting up and down safely. SAWs doesn't just build ramps. We also provide handrails such as these or modified steps and handrails to assist our clients in getting up and down their steps safely and help prevent them from falling. Thanks team for your work on this project!

Yesterday, a group of us built a short ramp for a gentleman that was trapped in his home. He has had a power wheelchair for some time but no ramp to give him access to the home. Well, that is what we do. So now this gentleman can access his home and get to their vehicle and go places. What a great treat. This gentleman was overwhelmed and told me that he just could not believe what the SAWs team gave him today. This was a wonderful build with a lot of happiness provided. Attached is a picture of the ramp as presented to our client. This was our 4th ramp in 2023, and we have plenty more coming. So, stay tuned for the scheduled ramps as we continue to build in the coming weeks. Thank you for your continued support of Putnam County SAWs. ~John Anderson
