Troop 460 wants to recognize our newest Eagle. Noah Wade, who finished up his project awhile ago, finally had his Board of Review and is now an Eagle Scout.

Troop 460 had a Christmas Party and Court of Honor tonight and we had a lot of photos to show. In the end we awarded 62 Merit Badges, 9 Ranks and 39 other awards, not including the stuff that our Philmont Crew was awarded tonight from their 2025 Trek.

Scouting is all about Character Development, Citizenship Training, Personal Fitness and Leadership Development, at least that is what Scouting America's webpage will say. But as we've talked about at some of our meetings over the last several months, ultimately it's about helping them to be well rounded, self sufficient young men that will step up and make the world around them a little bit better, even when faced with adversity. And one of the biggest parts of getting them ready for that is to teach them that falling in the face of adversity and ultimately failing isn't the end, that they are capable of getting up, shaking the dirt off and moving forward and succeeding.

Right now lots of people want to talk about how bad things are in the world and we hear all of this negative about kids. I can tell you based off my experience with the 20 guys currently in Troop 460 and especially the 6 that went to Philmont this past summer, there are kids and young men right now that are going to make the world around them a little better. These guys have faced adversity and been beaten down and they've gotten right back up and kept moving forward. So no matter what people want to say about the youth of today, I know a pretty sizable group that are heading in the right direction and I'm looking forward to seeing what they do.

At the 4-minute mark, some of our troop members are visible in the background during a flag ceremony. We also know all of the young ladies conducting the Flag Ceremony, they are from Scouting America Troop 9 - Girls in Hendersonville, and one of them is a young lady from Greenbrier. If any young lady is interested in getting involved with Scouting America, they are a great group to be involved with.

Robert Johnson has just taken the helm of Middle Tennessee Council Scouting America. Hear what the scouts are doing to welcome people from all backgrounds and abilities.

We had a chance to be a part of the Fun Shoot for the Council today at the Nashville Gun Club! Did have to have some help from a Troop 9 scout to help fill our team for today after we had our ace go down with an injury last night playing high school football, hope Tommy gets to feeling better, and thank you Olivia for helping out Matthew, TJ and Dakota shoot today.

If you have a kid at Greenbrier Elementary or Watauga Elementary, then this week you will be seeing a flyer about Pack 461 and Scouts. On Thursday night, the Pack will be having a signup night at Watuaga and we would love to see more kids join this awesome program and eventually crossover to join a Troop. If though any of those Elementary kids have an older brother or sister now that might be interested, they can come out that night too and meet some teens from Troop 460 and Troop 9 that will be there to help and they can learn more about the program for older youth. Scouting is a great program that teaches Character, Citizenship and Leadership and challenges kids in ways they don't get challenged in any other way. We hope to see you there on August 14th from 6 to 7 at Watauga Elementary!

Several of our guys spent a great week at Camp Craig in June for Summer Camp. Many of the older guys opted out of the normal merit badges and spent the week in camp working on some old merit badges that needed finishing. Many of the younger guys took on merit badges such as Fishing, Fish and Wildlife Management, Riflery, and Shotgun Shooting, and a lot more. All round it was a pretty great week, even if we did have to spend a few hours in the Bat Cave due to severe storms.
