Part One: PHOTOS.
I, Pastor Jeff, had the blessing of attending the first Congolese worship service in the sanctuary at First UMC this morning at 11am. They had twice their normal number, over 80 Congolese brothers and sisters from throughout the Fox Cities. I was struck by how visitors happily joined established members at the front to sing or help with percussion. I was amazed at the intensity of the time of prayer and the passion with which they worship. Below are my attempts to provide snippets of what I experienced worshiping with them today. :)

I, Pastor Jeff, witnessed the Kingdom of God bust out at First United Methodist Church during Launch Day today. Brothers and sisters, old and young, both Congolese and from here in Green Bay had fellowship with each other and 17 children came closer to God together through the Encounter children’s class. God bless all Encounter students, leaders and all those who supported Launch Day with their gifts, time and hospitality today at First United Methodist Church. Can I get an Amen!?! :)

For anyone interested in beginning to prepare or feeling called to go deeper during some of the Wednesday Night Bible Studies this fall, our Librarian Denise Olsen has set out some books on the Book of Ruth and Paul's Letter to the Ephesians in Wesley Hall. Be sure to go by and take a look and see if you want to take one or two home to read. :)

Encounter Classes for children begin this Sunday during Launch Day at First United Methodist Church! They will take place shortly after the end of the 9 am service somewhere between 10:15 and 10:30 am. This year, classes will be led by Colleen Gruszynski, Deb Parrott, Peggy Schroeder and Judy Patefield. Here is brief bio/pic on Colleen and a picture of Deb. Hope to see you Sunday at Encounter class on Launch Day at First UMC! 501 Howe St. in Downtown Green Bay. :)

Colleen (pic on the right) and her family were joined FUMC after their daughter attended the Baby Place and First Preschool & Daycare. Colleen also volunteers with Girl Scouts and Martin Elementary's FSO. As a breast cancer survivor, Colleen represents young adults and families with cancer on UW Carbone's Statewide Community Advocacy Board.
