Good morning everyone! Today’s word from Jesus: Luke 5:37-38 “And no one puts new wine into old wine skins. If he does, the new wine will burst the skins and will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed. But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins.”
Jesus was answering a complaint about His disciples. The Pharisees objected that His disciples didn’t fast enough but celebrated with Jesus with eating and drinking. Basically Jesus’ followers didn’t dance to their tune. This petty spirit of control is like putting new wine into old wineskins. It can’t be done. New wine has a vitality that cannot be contained. The outward structure of a church only serves a purpose for a time. The contents, the life of a church is in the people and we are what Jesus is interested in. When the old structures are made more important than the contents then it’s time for new wineskins. Jesus has always been about doing a new thing and using a fresh approach.
Lord Jesus, thank You for the joy and freedom You give. Thank You for raising up new wineskins for our fellowship. As outward structures crumble and fail keep us in close fellowship with You and with each other. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Good morning everyone! Today’s word from Jesus: Luke 5:31-32 “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.”
Jesus was known as the friend of sinners. There is more hope for a sinner who knows he is lost and going to hell than for a hypocrite who believes he is going to heaven while remaining in sin. Because only the sick will trust the doctor and the cure. Jesus came for sinners; He is the doctor who offers the cure from sin, death, and hell. And His cure requires repentance.
This is a serious matter. The Pharisees grumbled at Jesus because they felt they were better than others. Let us always remember how Jesus saved us and never look down on others.
Lord Jesus, thank You for calling us sinners to repentance. Thank You for being the cure to our deadly disease. Give us Your concern for the lost and dying that we can point to You, the Good Physician. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Good morning everyone! Today’s word from Jesus: Luke 5:27 “Follow me”.
Jesus said this to a tax collector named Levi. (Matthew’s gospel tells us this is actually Matthew) Everyone hated tax collectors; they worked for the Romans, grew rich on the oppression of the poor, and skimmed off a percentage on top of that. So why did Jesus call this one?
Jesus loves those who others hate. He calls those who we’d avoid.
Why did Levi leave everything and rose up and followed Him? Compelled by the love in His voice Levi didn’t hesitate; he didn’t need days to think it over. He left his old life behind and followed Jesus. This is also our call and whatever Jesus has for us is so much better than what we held on to before. Let’s go and follow Him!
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your call to pull us from our old selfish ways to become Your disciple. Lead us today as we walk with You. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Good morning everyone! Today’s word from Jesus: Luke 5:20 “Man, your sins are forgiven you.”
Jesus said this to the paralyzed man whose friends carried to Jesus and lowered through the roof. But some gathered there to observe Jesus were ready to criticize Him, saying, Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?
Jesus deliberately dealt with the root of this man’s need, forgiveness before his healing. And asked which is easier, to forgive sins, or restore a paralyzed man to rise and walk?
Both are impossible for man, both require a miracle from God. So Jesus did both for this man and sent him home forgiven and healed.
Jesus still works miracles. Every time a person is brought to Jesus and experiences their sins forgiven, this is the greatest miracle of all.
Lord Jesus, Thank You for doing the impossible in our lives. Thank You for forgiving me and healing me. Use us today to bring hurting people to You. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Good morning everyone! Today’s word from Jesus: Luke 5:13 “I will; be clean.”
Leprosy was people’s worst nightmare. It was incurable, disfiguring, painful physically and emotionally. This man came to Jesus full of leprosy. He believed Jesus was able to cure him. He begged, Lord, if you will, you can make me clean, v.12. And Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him, saying, I will; be clean.
Jesus is stronger than our leprosy; His touch cleanses sin. He cleanses us by taking our sin upon Himself and it is nailed to the cross. He is not only able to do this, He is willing to do this for everyone who asks Him.
What did this man feel when immediately the leprosy left him? Let that be our emotion today as we encounter Jesus.
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your cleansing touch. Thank You for removing our leprosy and making us whole. Give us Your compassion for other lepers among us. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Good morning everyone! Today’s word from Jesus: Luke 5:4 “Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”
Simon Peter had finished a night of fishing, had washed his nets and likely was frustrated by their wasted effort: We toiled all night and took nothing!
He might have been irritated by Jesus borrowing his boat to use as His pulpit to teach the people. And he probably laughed when Jesus suggested to go back out and let down the nets. Fishermen know what time of day the fish feed and swarm, it’s not in the middle of the day.
So when they did this the fish jumped into their nets and filled both boats.
Jesus rewards us when we listen to Him, especially when we’re frustrated, irritated and full of objections. Let us do what He says and experience His miracle like Simon Peter.
Lord Jesus, use our boat, nets, hands and hearts to do Your will. Let us launch out into the deep at Your word. Prepare us for a greater catch in Your name. Amen.

Good morning everyone! Today’s word from Jesus: Luke 4:43 “I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well; for I was sent for this purpose.”
Jesus had an agenda that was different from man’s. He would minister to the needs around Him, as the sick were brought to Him, He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them. And so the people came to Him and would have kept Him from leaving them.
Jesus explained the good news of the kingdom had to be preached to other towns. We tend to want to keep His blessings to ourselves; we should rejoice in Jesus’ agenda to move on to reach others. Let us embrace His agenda and share His kingdom purpose.
Lord Jesus, thank You for touching our lives and healing our hearts. Lead us beyond our personal spheres to share the good news where most needed. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Good morning everyone! Today’s word from Jesus: Luke 4:35 “Be silent and come out of him.”
Demons manifested when Jesus taught because His word has authority. His word challenges the grip unclean spirits have over people. So this man shouted out, Ha! What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are— the Holy One of God! (v.34)
Jesus rebuked the spirit and commanded it to leave. Jesus does not tolerate evil spirits nor compromise with them. Nor should we. May we be delivered from demonic influences and stand firm on the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Lord Jesus, cast out every devil from our midst. Expose the lies and silence those shouts and whispers that rise up against You. Protect us from the enemy’s schemes. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
