What kind of leader is God calling you to be?

In Week 3 of The Wise Leader: Proverbs Edition, we look at the power of counsel and collaboration. Proverbs reminds us that wise leaders don’t lead alone. They listen. They invite honest feedback. They surround themselves with people who can help them see what they cannot see on their own.

Because the truth is, confidence is not the same thing as wisdom — and having a plan doesn’t always mean you have a good plan.

This rotation in FCCKids, we are helping our children discover the story of Rebekah and Isaac in ways that connect faith to everyday life. This week, our preschool class learned how something as simple as offering a glass of water can change a life and why kindness toward animals matters. In our elementary class, we explored how we must keep our hearts and minds open to God’s will while discovering how easily our brains can be fooled by something as simple as touch—reminding us that faith often calls us to look deeper than appearances.

Today we pause to remember.

We remember the fallen who gave their lives in service to others.

And we remember all those who have gone before us whose love, faith, courage, and sacrifice helped shape who we are today.

May we carry their legacy with gratitude.

May we honor their memory with the way we live.

We remember with gratitude the lives that shaped ours.

The Wise Leader: Integrity

Leadership is not just about having a title, a position, or a platform. Leadership is about trust.

And trust is always built on integrity.

In week two of The Wise Leader: Proverbs Edition, we look at Proverbs 11:3 and explore what it means to live with a life that is not divided — where our public life and private life match up.

Through the stories of Judas and Joseph, we see the danger of duplicity and the power of integrity. Because integrity does not always make life easier, but it does help us hold on to who we are before God.

Big idea: Integrity is the foundation that holds your life together.

Bumper sticker: Integrity doesn’t just protect you. It directs you.

It’s time to acknowledge the time and effort of some of our FCC Family Members who serve in so many ways! This is only a PARTIAL LIST, so be watching for the next Shout Out because YOUR name might be on it!

Tonya Kircher for preparing a wonderful Lenten Lunch in March for our church and our community; a special Shout Out to MaKiah Webber who exhibits the beautiful heart of a servant every time she comes to church; to our men who Open and Close the building on Sunday mornings: John Sheets, JD Rein, Lane Moore, Roger Butler, Glen Hughes, Clayton Noffsinger, and David Essmiller; to Mark and Ruthann Wertz who stepped up to lead and organize the Worship Team in the Refuge for the last four months; to Sandra Dockter, Deanna Essmiller, Becky Hill, Marta Edmonds, Randy Goering, and Ken Marston for leading Small Groups through the Spring Semester; to Lynne Scheuerman and LaRena Hildebrand who stepped in as NEW Food Team Leaders this Spring; to Pam Finley who is our FCC representative at the meetings held by the Barton County Association of Churches; and a special Shout Out to our beloved Mary Hunter, who will be forever remembered as our wonderful Bell Choir Director!
