**Our Beliefs**
Our beliefs are based on the teaching of the Bible as expressed in the Westminster Confession of Faith which is the theo
logical standard of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of which Highlands is a member.
**God**
God is the Sovereign Creator of the universe. God is a Spirit and those who worship Him must do so in spirit and in truth. God exists in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit who are the same in substance, equal in power and glory.
**Jesus Christ**
Jesus is the only begotten, eternal Son of God. Jesus was incarnate as a human being, lived a sinless life, and gave up His life to pay the price of sin for those who believe in Him. Jesus gives eternal life to all who turn from sin and trust in Him alone for salvation
Jesus will return one day to claim His people and establish His kingdom in all its fullness, removing sin and its consequences, and restoring paradise.
**The Holy Spirit**
The Holy Spirit is the Lord and giver of eternal life, who convicts God’s people of sin and enables them to repent and trust in the redemption accomplished for them by Jesus Christ on the cross. The Holy Spirit empowers believers to live in obedience to God and seals them for the day of redemption when Jesus will return.
**The Bible**
The Bible is the Word of God and without error in all that it affirms and teaches being fully sufficient to lead us to the truth about salvation. The Bible is our only perfect rule of faith (what to believe concerning God) and practice (what duty God requires of us).
**The Church**
The church is called to be the visible representation of Jesus Christ, His body in this life and at work in this world. The church is comprised of all who profess faith in Jesus Christ, together with their baptized children. The church is commanded to proclaim the good news of salvation to all and to be a light that leads to the truth from God and salt that seeks to preserve God’s way of life in a world that is trapped in the darkness of sin and despair.
**Stewardship**
Believers are commanded by God to be good stewards of their time, talents, and treasures, using all they are and all they have in a manner that pleases the Lord and supports the cause of Jesus Christ in this world.
