A fascinating time indeed. So much is different. So much has changed.
Families are staying home and sharing life as they used to do. They’re taking walks together, watching movies together, playing games together—or trying! And, all the while they’re wondering, pondering (quietly within) . . . “Where is all of this going?” People are asking themselves, “Could this really be the end? Could this actually get out of hand?”
Because, in stepping back and looking at this, it’s LARGE. A new virus has swept the world, including America, and there is no approved treatment.
This pandemic, therefore, is having a humbling effect on people. It’s breaking things down. Do you hear the rumble? Can you feel the walls falling? Valleys are being lifted up, mountains are being brought low. People from every walk of life are being affected. Toilet paper? Really?! Here? Yes, here.
Strange as it may sound, this is a special time. It’s a special time because God is working in an unusual way. He’s using the situation to call all people to Him. Regardless of where or how this virus originated, the same God who ordains the end (saved souls) also ordains the means to the end (the virus)—He is Lord of all.
This crisis has meant financial hardship for thousands. Its policies have affected Christ’s Church too. But that’s the point: God is conducting spiritual business with virtually every person in the world, and this world needs that more than anything. Thank you Lord.
God is alive, He’s aware, He cares, and He’s calling. Let’s keep praying for a bountiful harvest, knowing that God’s work is never wasted.
