Our beautiful Jessica Archer is graduating from High School! As most of you know, Jessica has been home schooled the last few years. She completed all of her requirements for the state of Arkansas back in January. She graduates with a 3.95 grade average and has worked full-time for the last 2 years. Jessica’s graduation ceremony will be at the Gravette United Methodist Church on May 24th at 9:30 am with a reception to be held after the services in the Fellowship Hall. She asks that if you can attend, she would be thrilled! Cards and gifts can be sent to 12170 Leonard Rd. Gravette, Arkansas 72736. We are so proud of our girl!

From Pastor Mike:
Friends, this Sunday we begin a new sermon series entitled, “Understanding the Power of Words of Hate.” During this series, we will examine why we, as a country and as individuals, are drawn toward words of hate and what fuels the feelings of anger. We like to believe that Christians are exempt from using hate-filled words that cause division, oppression, and disrespect; however, sometimes Christians are the ones fanning the flames. As people called to be instruments of reconciliation, we need to address why individuals are angrier today and what needs to be done that brings us to a place of peaceful, respectful, honest, and transforming dialogue and living.
I am looking forward to sharing this study together and hope that by more fully understanding the repercussions of the thought and actions regarding hate and anger, we can move toward peaceful and respectful living.

From the desk of Pastor Mike:

Friends,
Although Easter Sunday is now two weeks in the past, the message of the Resurrection remains current, vital, and life changing. How we portray that message in what we say and do is nearly as important as the message itself. Through the Resurrection, we are not only given life hereafter, but we are given the gift that we are no longer shaped by the oppression, injustice, evil, and self-centeredness of this life. We are given hope, peace, love, and God’s presence, as we experience grace, mercy, and forgiveness. Additionally, we are given the gift of sharing this message with others, both inside the church walls, as well as into the community. May we keep the significance and relevance of the message of Easter real and alive in what we say and what we do.

It's great to be back home in Arkansas. I am looking forward to our worship time together this Sunday. I hope you will be able to attend. Invite someone to come worship with you.
