Hello Foothill Family,

Blessings in the name of Jesus. I am looking forward to our time together this Sunday.

As I have been studying the book of Acts, something has caught my attention. God consistently leads Paul into Harm's Way. This is not only true of Paul but also of many other believers.

“And see, now I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there, except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that chains and tribulations await me.” Acts 20:22–23 (NKJV):

What does this tell you about God?
What does it tell you about people?
How does it speak to you as a believer?

Hello Foothill Family,

Blessings in the name of Jesus. I so look forward to fellowship with you this Sunday. Church is a place where we can share the grace of God with each other and grow in our faith.

As I read and study through the book of Acts, I cannot help but reflect on Acts 9: 15-16. God speaks to Ananias concerning Paul. 15 But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel. 16 For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name’s sake.”

Wow, a chosen vessel. We are all chosen vessels by God. Wow, that's cool. We are all called to suffer for His name's sake. What, no, wait a minute! I know the first half of that scripture is the invitation; the second half is the challenge. Do you remember that? Invitation and challenge.

Sometimes I like to focus on the blessing in Scripture and not its challenges. Both contribute to our spiritual health, growth, and pursuit of Christ's likeness.

Hello Foothill Family,

We have something very special planned for this. I'm not going to tell you what it is right now, you'll have to come and see.

This week I've been in Colossians. In chapter 3, I find some very foundational truths.
1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

5 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, 7 in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.

When we choose to cling to the world's definition of us, we put the work of Christ on hold. We are risen with Christ and hidden with Christ in God. That is a powerful statement that has so many ramifications. We are not called to live according to the beggarly elements of this world. We are called to live victoriously in Christ. I want to encourage you to read this out of The Message Bible.

Remember, this Saturday we have prayer at 7:00 a.m. in the church sanctuary. This will be a time of seeking the Lord. We will press into his presence, listen, and see what he has for us. If you can make it, I look forward to seeing you there. Be prepared to turn your phone off, bring your Bible, and a notepad.

Hello Foothill Family,

This Sunday is our Foothill Family Feast. I forgot to remind you to sign up after the service. Let me know what you're planning on bringing by responding to this email. This will be a great time of Fellowship and the word.

In one Thessalonians 1:6 - 8 it says, 6 And you became followers of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit, 7 so that you became examples to all in Macedonia and Achaia who believe. 8 For from you the word of the Lord has sounded forth, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place. Your faith toward God has gone out, so that we do not need to say anything.

I find this to be an amazing passage. The church at Thessalonica had such a strong testimony that their reputation went out to that region. Their lampstand was burning bright. (Rev. 2)

Remember, this Saturday we start prayer at 7:00 a.m. in the church sanctuary. This will be a time of seeking the Lord. We will press into his presence, listen, and see what he has for us. If you can make it I look forward to seeing you there.

Hello Foothill Family,

Remember, this Saturday is the Women's Brunch at 10:30 a.m. It's not too late to sign up. Let me know you'll be there by responding to this email.

In 1 Peter 4 it says,
8 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” 9 Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. 10 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

It does my heart good when I see or hear of people in our church family ministering to each other. You know as well as I do, it brings great pleasure to the Lord in the same way. As a matter of fact, later on in this passage it says that when we Minister each other in our church family it glorifies God. To make each other a priority and to spend time with each other not only makes God happy, it glorifies him. Let's glorify God together.

Hello Foothill Family,

I am so blessed to be a part of this family. As I was reading Acts chapter 12 and considering the story of Peter in prison, I couldn't help but notice that while he was there, the Bible says in verse 5 that the church offered constant prayer to God for him.

One of the things I find to be a blessing about our Foothill Family is this: We are a House of Prayer. When I first came to Foothill three and a half years ago, I noticed that it was a House of Prayer. That's one of the things I asked God for.

It was beautiful to step into a legacy culture of prayer at Foothill and watch it grow even more over the past few years. That is the heart of our family.

My continued desire and prayer is that as we grow, prayer will become a greater part of our personal lives. May we be transformed by the presence of God while we seek his face.

2 Corinthians 3
17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as [b]by the Spirit of the Lord.

Hello Foothill Family,

This week is Pentecost Sunday. We celebrate the Day God poured out his holy spirit on the church and empowered us to be Witnesses. Why did God do that? Because He wants us to be His witnesses.

As we go through Acts chapter 10 and now chapter 11, we see the power and significance of the Holy Spirit active in our daily lives.
6 to 8 years earlier, Stephan was martyred for his faith. Now, Six years later, we see those scattered believers in Chapter 11 sharing the gospel and making many converts. These were people like you and me, sharing their faith and seeing the kingdom of God advance.
How did they do it? By the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit not only empowers us to be His witnesses, but it also empowers us with the passion and the urgency that is in the heart of God.
Let's be compelled by the love of God and that alone.

Hello Foothill Family,

The blessing of the Lord is abundant for those who love him. Our brother Chris Jackson Jr., who has been fighting for his life for 12 days, has come out of his coma and is communicating with family. Praise God for his faithfulness.

Tonight is Building on the Rock! I want to encourage you all to make this a priority. If you haven't registered, it's not too late to show up at 6pm tonight and they will make accommodations for you.

This Sunday, we will resume our study through the book of Acts. In Acts 10, it says that Cornelius was a devout man who feared God with his whole household. This is a powerful statement. How do we influence and lead others in our devotion to God? We will be discussing this on Sunday.

Hello Foothill Family,

It was great to hear from everybody on the mission team this past Sunday. We will bounce off of that conversation last week, and I will share some things with you that are near and dear to my heart.

In the meantime, let's consider the following scripture.
2 Peter 1
5 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

What a painful conclusion that would be for me to draw about myself. Am I fruitful in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior? This powerful passage contains a lot of food for thought. Let me know your thoughts.
