First Christian Memorial, Inc. The sanctuary of the building seats about 100, and there's a fellowship hall with a full kitchen for receptions.

Constructed in 1895 as the meeting house of the First Christian Church of Grapeland, this Carpenter Gothic structure is now a community center and Registered Texas Landmark. The building can be rented for weddings, reunions, concerts, workshops, etc. It belongs to a non-profit historic preservation society, the First Christian Memorial, Inc., which maintains the building and produces programs during the year.

Congratulations to Carl Kellum, the lucky winner of the First Christian Memorial’s first raffle. He will take home the Beretta A300 Ultima 12 gauge shotgun. Thanks to all who participated, the FCM board, and Wayne and Christina Stewart. The money raised will help preserve this historic building we love so much.

Thanks so much to Wayne and Christina Stewart and their family, for hosting the 1st Annual Benefit Sporting Clay shoot, at their Iron Hill shooting range in Augusta. The First Christian Memorial gained about $1,000 from registrations, raffle ticket sales, and sales of Kim Smith’s famous pulled pork sandwiches. Board members Jeffrey Owens, Linda Neal, Kim Smith, Tom Streetman, and Susan Williams hope the community will continue to support the Memorial. Please attend the Quilt Guild show and bake sale this Saturday!

Today May 7, 2026 the National Day of prayer was held at First Christian Memorial in Grapeland. It was organized by President Truman in 1952. This year’s theme was to glorify God Among the Nations.

Today at noon is our National Day of Prayer observance. The mayor is extending the welcome. The Beatitudes will be read aloud. Area ministers are leading prayers, with congregational singing. Our Benediction will be a group recitation of the Lord’s Prayer. The Board is serving light refreshments afterwards. Please join us as we thank God the Creator and petition for blessings and forgiveness.

Please join us for Grapeland's First Christian Memorial, Inc. National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 7, at noon. Mayor Velda Green will extend the welcome. Ministers leading prayers include Vance Drum, Sunset Christian; Tim Smith, First Baptist; Jeremy Brewer, First Methodist; Early Copeland, Grapeland Church of Christ; Tommy Sprinkle, Light on a Hill Church; Wayne Stewart, Grapeland Baptist; and Josh Luker, Oak Grove Baptist. Tim Owens will be leading "We Gather Together;" "O Beautiful for Spacious Skies;" and "God of Our Fathers." The Beatitudes will be read, and we'll recite the Lord's Prayer, followed by light refreshments furnished by the board of the First Christian Memorial. Please come!
