Tsubaki Grand Shrine of America

Tsubaki Grand Shrine of America All Human beings are equal under the sun because our lives all have their origin in divine solar Ki. This is quite simply the basic fact of our human existence.

This is the page for Tsubaki Grand Shrine of America, the North American branch of Tsubaki Okami Yashiro one of Japan’s oldest and most prestigious Shinto shrines with a continuous history of over 2000 years.http://www.TsubakiShrine.org/ Further each human being receives the gift of having their lives sustained by the blessings of the sun. This is also the basic of Shinto- the way of prog

ressing in harmony with divine nature. The modern world we inhabit changes very quickly-- our society now relies on email, cell phones, web-based social networking and 24/7 internet access. The nature of our human minds and human spirituality however is relatively unchanged since ancient times. Jinja Shinto originating in the spontaneous reverence for Nature of Japan's deep pre-history represents the basic of human spirituality and human experience. Something in the pristine nature of the Jinja Shinto experience can help reconnect us to our primal intuitive roots while the purifying straightening and invigorating action can help us to meet the challenges of the present fast-changing and sometimes confusing times. The Shinto Shrine is an enriched environment where Divine Nature’s Life Giving Forces are commemorated like parents. The Shrine is a place where all things in Nature gather together and receive renewal. We visit the Shinto Shrine and participate in Shinto Matsuri to receive the blessings of Okami

Shinto ritual and practices have the ability to effect the KI. KI is primal causer…everything is started by KI. The Great Universe is started by KI. Your mood, decisions and actions are initiated by Ki. Of course negative Ki exists but we can purify ourselves to sense Ki and to receive positive Ki. This is the teaching of Sarutahiko Okami, Kami of KI, positiveness, grounding and progress in harmony with divine Nature who along with his wife AmenoUzume no Mikoto, Kami of Arts, meditation and joy form the principal Kami of Tsubaki Okami Yashiro

FROM THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS:

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that we will be closing Tsubaki Grand Shrine of America on June 30, 2023.

First, may we express our deepest gratitude to Rev. and Mrs. Barrish for their many years of dedication and for sharing the profound practice of Shinto with thousands of members and visitors for over 20 years. At this time, however, they will be retiring due to health reasons.

Next, we are so very grateful to the hundreds of volunteers who have helped support Tsubaki America shrine activities over the years. Please continue to keep the kamisama in your hearts and in your daily activities.

June 25, 2023 we will conduct Nagoshi no Oharahi (Mid Year Great Purification). This will be our final public ceremony at Tsubaki America, and we welcome all Members to attend this celebration.

Additionally, Shin Mei Spiritual Centre near Victoria, B.C., a branch of Tsubaki Grand Shrine Japan, is active and continues to welcome visitors (www.shinmei.ca) for gokitoh kigansai. Omamori and kamidana items from Tsubaki Grand Shrine Japan will continue to be available through Shin Mei.
