Jesus Saves is a building, but the people inside are what the foundation of what God can do. We had the privilege of hearing a testimonial from one of our faithful volunteers. Sharing what God has done in our lives is very important. We should not be ashamed of who we were but be grateful for who God has let is become.

“They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭12‬:‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I wanted to share some thoughts with our faithful supporters and the dear people we serve.

Something the Lord has been showing me more and more lately is the importance of how we respond to hurtful situations. For the majority of us, including myself, flesh naturally wants to protect itself, defend itself and preserve itself. But what the Lord has shown me is that when I respond in my flesh, it gives fuel to the enemies fire.

A wise person once told me, you cannot chase a person who isn’t running. That has always stayed with me. If you want to burn a fire out, remove its source of oxygen. If you want to defeat the enemies schemes, stop trying to fight him with your flesh. You fight by putting on Christ in your thoughts, your words and your actions, recognizing Christ has already defeated the enemy. When Jesus died on the cross, He stripped Satan of his primary weapon of accusation and condemnation, therefore we cannot allow ourselves to be brought back to a place of bo***ge we’ve already been freed from.

So how can we play this out in real life? When someone says something unjustly and incorrect about you or intentionally tries to hurt or take advantage of you, first recognize your identity is in Christ and not defined by a person’s words or their actions. What people say about you can never change who God says you are.

#1 You can choose not to engage in the conversation.

#2 You can choose to share your feelings on the matter, understanding the other person may not agree and/or change, and that’s ok.

#3 You can choose to set healthy boundaries and change levels of access in the relationship.

#4 You can choose to respond with statements of love and kindness not out of manipulation, but from a place of love for God’s creation.

When you come from a place of righteousness recognizing the Lord has already conquered sin and death, you suddenly realize your justification comes from Jesus, and the hurtful words, the accusations, the fight….it dies. It dies on the cross and death loses its sting. It loses its hold. You realize you are no longer bound by others sin, and you recognize you have the power through Christ to be released from it.

“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”

1 Corinthians 15: 55-58

Love you dear friends. May the Lord be with you. Life is so hard, but we can take comfort in knowing we are not alone and the Lord is for you and loves you deeply.

I was at our ministry building late one evening last Wednesday working on installing a phone line. As I was getting ready to leave, one of the people we regularly serve had been patiently waiting outside to talk to me. My first inclination was she probably wanted a drink or something to eat, but what she requested completely blew me away. She knew we were having our worship night this past Friday and relayed she had left money on her link card and wanted to know how she could help. I told her we needed 150 slices of cheese, and with a big grin, she said, “You got it.” The next day, she went to the grocery store right across the parking lot, purchased the cheese, and promptly dropped it off.

Sometimes when people see someone living on the streets, they assume they have nothing to offer, nothing to contribute, and nothing to give. But that’s not what we see at Jesus Saves. We see people showing up five days a week to attend daily Bible studies to learn more about Jesus. We see people working on practical next steps on their road to freedom and we see our friends wanting to give back because they do have something to give. Sometimes people just need someone to believe in them and not give up. They need relationship, hope, and someone willing to walk with them. That’s exactly what we do at Jesus Saves Ministries.

It takes 30+ volunteers per week to run the Lord’s ministry, and the need only continues to grow. We are seeing anywhere from 1-5 people getting off the streets every week. If you feel a calling from the Lord to get involved, please reach out to me. We have volunteer shifts M-F from 9-12 and 12-3. We are better together, and it most certainly takes a village.

Thank you Jesus for allowing us to see moments like this where your light is transforming people’s hearts and leading them closer to you. Thank you Jesus for your ministry and allowing us to work in it. Thank you Jesus that you never leave us or forsake us, and there’s always hope through you. All glory be given to you King Jesus!

If you can’t volunteer and want to be a monthly or one time supporter, please visit us at www.jesussavesministries.net . You can also find practical resources on our website as well for people in need.

Tonight was a perfect ending to our summer worship nights at JESUS SAVES with Harvest Worship. It was such an amazing evening to watch the Holy Spirit move through the crowd. As soon as there was mention of baptisms, children were coming up one after another. We checked with parents first, sat down and talked with each child to make sure they really understood the commitment they were making, and then each young precious soul stepped into the waters of baptism. Forever to be changed. One young girl when we asked her why she wanted to be baptized, her response was “I no longer want to live in sin. I choose Jesus.” JESUS CHANGES EVERYTHING

All praise, honor and glory be given to you King Jesus!!

The picture below is blurred because there are children in it, but the reason for the picture was because of what one of the children was doing. Last night we decided to mix it up and go do door-to-door. Normally when we do street ministry, we’re mostly ministering to homeless people on the streets, but last night was different. We filled up a wagon with Bibles and invites to our upcoming Friday JESUS SAVES worship night, and we went down the streets of Granite City two by two.

On one of the streets, we saw an older blind gentleman we serve at the ministry sitting in the middle of the street, so we stopped to make sure he was ok. As we were talking to him, we noticed a group of teenagers playing with a basketball in an adjacent parking lot. When we got a chance to talk with the teens, we asked them if they were interested in receiving Bibles. Pretty much every child wanted to receive one, but there was one child in particular that caught the attention of one of our people as we loaded back into our vehicle. He was sitting on the ground with his newly received Bible. It was opened and resting in his hands. He was reading the words on the pages as his peers continued to play ball around him. In that moment, it was like time had stopped, and we were able to get a precious glimpse into a young man’s journey with Jesus.

“But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent?
Romans 10:14-15

GO and share the Good News that has the power to save lives. As we saw so evidently last night, people are waiting, and the Lord is calling His people to GO!

This Friday, we will gather as a community at Jesus Saves Ministries coming together in unity to worship our Lord and Savior Jesus at our final outdoor summer worship night. It’s from 5:30pm-8pm. You can learn more about the ministry of JESUS SAVES, how to get involved, free food, enjoy a night of amazing worship provided by Harvest Ministry, powerful testimonies, prayer and an opportunity to unite with your community finding hope through Jesus.
