The church has a clear role in Scripture: to reach the lost and hurting and share the hope of the good news of Jesus Christ( the Gospel). Jesus said in Luke 19:10, “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” As His body, the Church is called to carry out that mission We are not to cater to the already righteous, but to extend love, truth, and grace to those who are hurting, wandering, and in need of salvation. In Mark 2:17, Jesus said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
The Church is not meant to be a place where people hide their flaws, but where people find healing, freedom, and purpose in Christ. We will never fulfill the purposes of God in our lives if we are lookinga down on the unsaved or the broken; we were once lost too, and it’s only by God’s grace that we’ve been redeemed (Ephesians 2:8-9). As Pastor Crippen often reminds us, we are called to love the unlovable- to be the hands and feet of Jesus, not just to the easy or the familiar, but to those the world may overlook. This is the heart of evangelism, and it’s the calling of the Church: to go out (Matthew 28:19-20), to make disciples, and to love like Jesus. As the body of Christ, our mission is serious, Holy, and full of eternal impact.
If you’re weary, wounded, or wondering if there’s still hope, come. Come just as you are. There’s room for you here. You don’t have to have it all together. This is a place where the broken are welcomed, the lost are found, and lives are forever changed by the love of Jesus Christ.
