Painful Adjudtments~ Pastor Luther Sims Jr.

Genesis 32:24-28
24 So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak. 25 When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob’s hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man. 26 Then the man said, “Let me go, for it is daybreak.”
But Jacob replied, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”
27 The man asked him, “What is your name?”
“Jacob,” he answered.
28 Then the man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel,[a] because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.”

If you break a bone many times it will need put back into place. It’s a painful process, but needed. The pain is necessary because what is out of alignment needs put back into proper position.

God puts us through seasons of adjustments and it will stretch you to a capacity you have never been before. God’s adjustments will challenge our limitations and understanding. As people we want elevation not correction. We want blessings but we don’t want transformation. You can’t be the person God called you to be and still be the person you were before God met you.

Jacob arrived at the Brook with baggage. Baggage of being deceitful, he had a broken family and broken relationships. He had fear of his brother Esau and the consequences of his past decisions. Being broken is God’s process of repairing.

God promise to give Abraham a nation, a blessing, a covenant and legacy. The promise had delays, obstacles and contradictions. God promised Abraham a child yet Sara was still baron. God don’t speak to us in the now, he speaks to us in the next. Often God’s promises come in packages of a painful process, but he loves you and still wants to use you even in your mess ups. We need to know that a cracked vase can still hold water. We need to confront our past and not let it hold us prisoner. Understand that consequences will always follow our actions.

Jacob was alone with no family, friends or servants. God uses isolation in order to bring about elevation. When God puts you by yourself, you’re getting ready to have an encounter. God will never talk in your ear when you’re listening to everybody else.

Exodus 14:13
“Fear ye not. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord,

God was getting ready to reveal himself to Jacob. God wants the old man to die and become new. Jacob and Israel can’t live at the same time. Jacob had to be transformed to become Israel. He went from being a fraud to having favor.

In closing, remember the fight and struggle is about your future. Gods grace is sufficient.

📣Recap from ROLCC by Beverly Stance.

Why The Fire Still Falls ~Pastor Travis Watkins.
(Pentecost Sunday)

Pentecost Sunday is 50 days after Easter. It is an experience that happened in the upper room and is the birth of the church. Pentecost has always been part of God‘s plan.
It is not a denomination, but a movement and encounter. It remains relevant and necessary.
There is an indwelling of the Holy Spirit and a baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Indwelling of the Holy Spirit - happens at salvation and is within you. Indwelling brings spiritual life and makes you a child of God. Indwelling produces fruit and is a well of water.

Baptism of Holy Spirit - happens after salvation and is upon you. Baptism of the Holy Ghost brings spiritual power and empowers you for ministry. Baptism of the Holy Ghost releases gifts, boldness and is a river of living water that comes out of you.

1 Azusa Street Revival
Pentecost has been going on since the Bible. The resurgence of Pentecost in America traces back to the early 1900s. It started in a warehouse on Azusa Street in Los Angeles, California. This revival lasted from 1906-1909. It began as one small prayer group with spontaneous worship, and the Holy Ghost fire fell.

2 Jesus people Movement
In 1960’s this movement started with a bunch of hippies who encountered God. Gang members would come and be baptized with the Holy Ghost and speak in other tongues and prophecy. Thousands of people would come to be baptized which coined the phrase “beach baptism.”

3 Brownsville Revival
Started in Pensacola Florida on Father’s Day in 1994. This lasted seven days a week for 6-7 years. People would stand outside or wait for days to get inside the building. The Holy Ghost was moving and people would fall under the power of God. There were people being healed, set free from drugs and alcohol, and speaking with other tongues.

4 College of Asbury
Chapel service in 2023 lasted around two weeks until the college made them stop. A group of college kids wanted to seek God and there was a move of God that spread to other colleges.

God is still doing exactly what he said he would do, but he needs a willing vessel for him to pour into.

Acts 2:1-4
2 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Speaking in tongues is a literal thing and it is still available to us today.

Acts 4:31
And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

1 Corinthians 2:4-5
And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

Jude
But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

Pentecost is not outdated, it is not a denomination it is a demonstration.

We will not back down, but we will defend the baptism of the Holy Ghost. We will not apologize for it, we were birthed in it. The early church didn’t start with a board meeting. It started with wind, sound, and fire. This generation doesn’t need another influencer they need impact, they need encounter, and they need the Holy Ghost. We cannot defend the Holy Ghost with dry theology, but with evidence.

Peter denied Jesus three times, but on the day of Pentecost he stood up and declared the word of God with power. Jesus still used Peter and he can use you in a mighty and powerful way, in spite of everything you’ve done wrong.

In conclusion, the Holy Ghost doesn’t come to make you popular. He comes to make you powerful.
