Invocation/Confession & Absolution

P In the name of the Father and of the † Son and of the Holy Spirit.
C Amen.

P: Blessed are those whose way is blameless,
C: who walk in the law of the LORD!

P: Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; our God is merciful.
C: I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.

P: Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things.
C: Blessed be His glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with His glory! Amen and Amen!

P: It is good and right that we should make confession of our sins. The section on Confession in the Small Catechism informs and directs us with these words, which summarize it well.
C: “Confession has two parts. First, that we confess our sins, and second, that we receive absolution, that is, forgiveness, from the pastor as from God Himself, not doubting, but firmly believing that by it our sins are forgiven before God in heaven.”

P: Humble yourselves then before God, confess your sins to Him, and implore His forgiveness.
C: O almighty God, merciful Father, I, a troubled and penitent sinner, confess to You all my sins and iniquities with which I have ever offended You and justly deserved Your present and eternal punishment. By nature, I am a sinful creature. By thought, word, and deed I have continually transgressed Your Law. For the sake of the suffering and death of Your Son, Jesus Christ, be gracious and merciful to me, a penitent and contrite being. Forgive me all my
sins and grant me the power of Your Holy Spirit that I may amend my sinful life.

P: God be gracious to you and strengthen your faith.
C: Amen.

P: As you believe, so let it be. As a called and ordained servant of Christ and by His authority, I therefore forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the † Son and of the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen.

and Matthew 15:21-28

Invocation/Confession & Absolution

P In the name of the Father and of the † Son and of the Holy Spirit.
C Amen.

P: I will go to the altar of God,
C: to God my exceeding joy.

P: My house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.
C: Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David.

P: Today, though we are undeserving, we come to the Lord saying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David.” Let us seek the Lord here while He may be found to grant us healing, help, and forgiveness.
C: Lord Jesus Christ, Son of David, Son of God, we are severely
oppressed by sin in all our thoughts, words, and actions. We have sinned against You by our own fault. We have not loved our
neighbors as ourselves. Have mercy on us, O Lord, and grant us forgiveness, help, and salvation. Amen.

P: Almighty God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and of all who believe in the name of His only begotten Son, is the God of mercy and for His sake forgives us all our sins. Therefore, in the stead and by the command of my Lord Jesus Christ, I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the † Son and of the Holy Spirit. In that mercy He gives power to become the children of God and promises His Holy Spirit. All who believe and are baptized shall be saved.
C: Amen.

Readings - Isaiah 55:1-5, Romans 9:1-5 and Matthew 14:13-21

Invocation/Confession & Absolution

P In the name of the Father and of the † Son and of the Holy Spirit.
C Amen.

P: I will go to the altar of God,
C: to God my exceeding joy.

P: Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good,
C: for His steadfast love endures forever.

P: Seek the LORD while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near. The LORD is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth. Incline your ear, and come to Me; hear, that your soul may live.
C: Hear my prayer, O Lord. I confess to almighty God all my sins of thought, of speech, of actions, and of inaction to help others in need. By Your steadfast love and mercy, forgive me and renew a right spirit in me that gives praise to You for Your faithfulness and that relies all the more on You for my salvation and for help in every need.

P: Give thanks to the Lord, for He has heard your cry for mercy. Upon this, your confession, I, by virtue of my office as a called and ordained servant of the Word, announce the grace of God to all of you. 7/26/2026 Sunday Service - Working for Us Always

Readings - Deuteronomy 7:6-9, Romans 8:28-39 and Matthew 13:44-52

Invocation/Confession & Absolution

P In the name of the Father and of the † Son and of the Holy Spirit.
C Amen.

P: Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God!
C: How unsearchable are His judgments and how inscrutable His ways!

P: The LORD set His love on you and chose you.
C: Know therefore that the LORD is God.

P: For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.
C: To Him be glory forever. Amen.

P: You are a people holy to the Lord your God.
C: We confess our unholy thoughts, words, and actions.

P: Almighty God,
C: We have not lived up to our calling as Your treasured possession. Our desires are selfish and our love is shallow. We have turned aside from doing good and chosen to treasure things of creation rather than our Creator. In our sinful state we are vulnerable to the devil, death, and darkness. And so we seek Your mercy. We surrender to Your loving kindness in Jesus Christ, our Lord.

P: “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
C: “He who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him graciously give us all things?”

P: Indeed, the mercy of almighty God is displayed in the giving of His Son, Jesus, to die for you, and for His sake God forgives you all your sins. As a called and ordained servant of the Word and by His authority, I therefore forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the † Son and of the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen.
