While in my personal devotion I saw a little note in Leviticus 2:13 after it says, “And every offering of your grain offering you shall season with salt; you shall not allow the salt of the covenant of your God to be lacking from your grain offering. With all your offerings you shall offer salt.” That note told me to see Matthew 5:13-16 where Jesus calls us the “salt of the earth” in His Sermon on the Mount. This made me realize what exactly it is to be salty.

You see in the Old Testament mixing salt with the grain was a way of preserving the wheat, it was a way to keep the yeast from spoiling and rotting the grain and making it last. Salt was a symbol of Gods promises, purity, truth, preservation, wisdom, and permeance (His everlasting nature). Salt was a symbol of Gods righteousness and His presence in people’s lives. While yeast is seen as a representation of sin and selfish desire because it continues to expand and consume until everything is consumed.

I’m reminded of an object lesson I saw in science class in Jr. High. You can fill a container right up to the very top with wheat and it will look full, but if you start to pour salt on top of the grain and shake it slightly those grains of salt will work their way through the gaps in the grain and disappear until it is completely saturated. In Matthew 5:13 Jesus says, “we are the salt of the earth.” This isn’t because we deserve it or earned but it’s because God through His Holy Spirit is poured out on us like the salt on a wheat offering and mixed in with us surrounding us becoming inseparable with us, becoming part of us as a whole. This salt preserves us, purifies us, and keeps the rot of sin at bay. When we feel inadequate or fail in our walk with God we don’t need to despair, worry, or beat ourselves up, instead we need more of Him more of His salt mixed in with us. We do this through study of His Word (the Bible), prayer, worship, seeking His truth. Essentially we are adding more of Him to our lives and becoming saltier. I want to encourage you all to intentionally add more of God into your life and become saltier, become a brighter light to the world around you, and above all else stay salty my friend.

Charlie Kirks Martyr on Wednesday can be likened to a modern day Stephen, standing up for the cause of Christ no matter the cost.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I'm so excited to see how God is going to move in all of our lives this year. Ezra fasted and prayed in Ezra 8:21-23 for four specific things 1. To humble himself and allow God room to move in his life. 2. For clear direction from God in where they should go. 3. For the little ones (his family and children). 4. His possessions (finances), and the amazing thing is that we see through his fasting and prayer it tells us in v. 23 that God answered his prayers. PRAISE GOD! Let's start 2025 off right and fast and pray like Ezra did.

Continue to pray for the Revival that started in Asbury and has continued to spread across our nation and internationally as well. It reminds me of the story from Doctor Orr and a young Billy Graham (story linked below). While we pray for this revival and the outbreak of the Holy Spirit upon our nation we need to remember that not only should we be praying for God to do it again, but in the words of Billy Graham, Do it again Lord and start it with me.
Revival doesn't start because God is pouring out more of his Spirit. Rather revival starts because we become willing vessels to receive it. So again...
Lord we pray for revival and that you do it again, and start it with me.
Amen.

Let's give thanks to God for ALL things today.

"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Sometimes it's easy to be thankful, but not always. When we look back at that first Thanksgiving it didn't seem like the pilgrims had much to be thankful for....

Calvin and Hobbes is probably my favorite comic strip of all times. He really has a way of capturing humanity in a unique way. This strip reminds me of Matthew 6:19-21, "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Too often do we get distracted and miss opportunities with our children because we have other things that we think are too important at that moment. This weekend take a moment and prioritize the real treasures in your life and make your family the priority I promise you won't regret it.

Would you let me crack 3 eggs over your head for a $100? Find out which one of my kids said yes and how we can use this as an object lesson of God's plans for our lives vs Satan's plans.

Today's Object Lesson is on God's Plans vs. Satan's Plans by cracking 3 eggs over one of my children's heads. Let me know in the comments below how this wor...
