Sweet Hunter is enjoying his coffee, I’m enjoying my Coke, and Izzy Pearl is busy sniffing around the porch, hoping a leaf has fallen just for her. The hummingbirds are buzzing from flower to flower, the birds are singing, the roosters have announced that it’s morning, and the flowers are blooming as if everything is exactly as it should be.
And yet… I’m just not in the mood today.
The garden needs picking. There are errands to run. Izzy Pearl gets to stay home with her daddy. Let’s pray while I’m gone she doesn’t redecorate the house! Giggle. Cooking isn’t even on my list of priorities today, and that’s saying something!
Yesterday SH took Fran, our goat, to the vet. They believe she’s been injured, possibly by Billy or even one of the cows. The good news is they don’t think it’s life-threatening. The hard part is she still can’t stand on her own. She’s on medicine now, and we’re praying it helps. We’d sure appreciate your prayers for our sweet girl Fran.
You ever have one of those “blah” days? The kind where you know what needs to be done, but your heart just isn’t in it?
I think Fran being sick has made my spirit sad although I know farm life is not easy when you get attached. I can’t hardly stand to see her like this. I give her the meds because she eats out of my hand easily. But SH has to do everything else. I just can’t. It hurts my heart.
I’ve learned something over the years. We don’t always have to feel motivated to keep putting one foot in front of the other. Sometimes the best thing we can do is thank the Lord for another beautiful morning, take a deep breath, & keep it going and trust that tomorrow will feel a little lighter.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got errands to run.
And before anyone asks… yes, the Coke was good.
It just didn’t fix the blahs. I guess I could put on the dog and act like it’s all good like many on social media do, but I’m a real person, living my life “out there” by choice.
Once again, unfortunately, “It is what it is.” This too shall pass. I’m an encourager or I try to see the good in everything.
But I’m also a realist. Tomorrow will be better. And it’s ok not to be ok every once in a while. We just can’t stay there! Remember. Joy comes in the morning.
Isn’t she lovely?
