Worship Notes for these Sundays after Pentecost
Green is back to being our liturgical color as we enter into what is often called "Ordinary Time" within our liturgical calendar. Think of this also being a season of growth (green). Besides adjustments to our service music and liturgy, we will mostly follow stories of Jesus from Matthew's gospel throughout this summer. The epistle lesson will be more of a semi-continuous reading through Paul's Letter to the Roman church and the Old Testament lesson will move somewhat sequentially through some of the big stories from the OT. On Sunday we begin with the story of Abraham and Sarah from Genesis 12. The psalm is paired with the OT passage during this season.
