Saint Mary Church was started in 1857 to serve the German population in the Grand Rapids area. In 1873, the original church building was replaced with our landmark Gothic-revival building, designed by the eminent architect Franz G. Himpler. It is one of the oldest extant Catholic Churches in GR. The parish recently completed extensive repair and restoration work on the church building to ensure th

at it continues to support the work of the people in the years to come. These church walls have heard prayers for over 150 years. Faith has been nourished and strengthened and handed on to the following generations. Mary now serves a diverse population of English and Spanish-speaking Catholics. You are welcome to stop in!
