CHOIRS AND ENSEMBLES OF THE CATHEDRAL - A Place for Every Musician
All choirs support the assembly in the singing of liturgical music selected from a wide variety of sources and Christian faith traditions and join together for important occasions and events. Each choir differs from the others in rehearsal schedule, weekend Mass time, degree of music reading ability needed and the types of choral
literature performed.
4:30pm Saturday Mass
CHANCEL CHOIR - Auditioned group, easy to advanced choral literature, rehearses once per month, sings for the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month throughout the year
10am Sunday Mass
CATHEDRAL CHOIR - Open to all singers with some choral experience, easy to advanced choral literature, rehearses Thursdays 7-9pm in the church, sings 2-3 Sundays per month, September through early June
12pm Sunday Mass in Spanish
CORO HISPANO - Open to all singers with facility in singing Spanish (or the desire to learn), easy literature, rehearses every other Wednesday 7-8:15pm, sings every Sunday through the year
6pm Sunday Mass
CATHEDRAL EVENING CHOIR - Open to all singers, easy to medium choral literature, rehearses Sunday 5pm-5:45pm in the church, sings every Sunday throughout the year
7:30pm Sunday Contemplative Mass
CONTEMPLATIVE MASS ENSEMBLE - Open to all singers and acoustic instrumentalists, generally easy liturgical literature taken from the repertoires of Taizé, chant, Eastern Rites, contemplative communities, rehearses 7-7:20pm Sundays right before Mass time
Other Ensembles
DIOCESAN CHOIR - open to all, rehearses Mondays 7-9pm in the church, sings for All Souls Day, concerts, Rite of Election, Chrism Mass and Ordination
DIOCESAN SCHOLA - open by audition only, rehearses Sunday afternoons, sings for various episcopal liturgies, concerts, Christmas Midnight Mass and Holy Week. CATHEDRAL MEN'S CHOIR - open by audition, performs easy to difficult TTBB choral literature, sings one Sunday 10am Mass every other month, Christmas Eve Vigil Mass (4:30pm) and rehearses in the two weeks leading up to each Mass, currently recording the CD "Sancta Maria"
CATHEDRAL CHORUS - open to all singers, sings once per summer together, otherwise, members are invited to participate in various liturgies and events throughout the year
CANTOR MINISTRY - open by audition, ability to prepare independently required
CATHEDRAL BRASS - professional positions, open by audition, plays for over 20 liturgies and events from September to June
INSTRUMENTALISTS - players of almost all acoustic instruments are needed
