Mercy Is New Today

Yesterday may have included mistakes; Poor decisions. Words you wish you could take back. Opportunities you missed.

But you woke up this morning under new mercy.

Lamentations 3:22-23, “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed… They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”

God did not give you new mercy so you could spend today serving yesterday’s guilt. Receive today’s grace.

Here is a new mercy declaration for you.
Yesterday is gone. God’s mercy met me again this morning.

You Do Not Have to Keep Reopening the Wound

There are memories that hurt every time we revisit them. Sometimes we mistake repeatedly reliving the pain for healing. It is not always healing. Sometimes it is only reopening the wound.

There comes a point when you must allow God to bind up what happened and lead you forward for healing.

Psalm 147:3 declares, “He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.”

Healing does not require you to forget. It requires you to stop living inside the wound.

Declare with your mouth, “I give you Lord permission to heal what I can no longer change.”

God Does Not Keep Score Against You

Sometimes we imagine God maintaining a list of every mistake, failure, and poor decision we have made. It is as if we think He’s just waiting to push the buzzer or wag His finger in shame at us.

But grace tells another story. In Romans 4:8 it says, “Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.” We sin. We fall short. We err. Grace is the great equalizer!!!

Through Christ, God is not standing over the redeemed with a spiritual scorecard waiting to condemn them. Grace does not erase responsibility. But grace does remove the sentence.

I am accountable for my choices, but I am not condemned to live underneath them forever.

You Are More Than Your Worst Decision

You made a mistake. Maybe it was a serious one. Maybe one that changed your life. But what you did is not the total definition of who you are or becoming.

Failure may describe an event and not a destination. It does not have the authority to define your identity.

2 Corinthians 5:17 redefines our identity when it says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

Your identity is not anchored in your worst moment. It is anchored in Christ. Your identity is who God says you are.

Your past is part of your story, but it is not hour identity. In Christ, you are being made new.

Stop Carrying What God Has Removed

You may remember what happened. But God does not ask you to keep carrying the guilt of it. Scripture gives us a powerful picture of forgiveness in Psalm 103:12 where it says, “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.”

God does not forgive you and then keep your failures sitting beside you as evidence against you. He removes them.

So why keep dragging back into today what grace has already carried away?

You have to keep telling yourself that God has removed my sin from me. I will stop carrying what He has already taken away.

God Does Not Require You to Keep Punishing Yourself

Some people believe that continuing to feel terrible proves they are truly sorry. But repeated self-condemnation is not the same as repentance.

Repentance turns us back toward God. Self-punishment keeps us trapped in the past. If God has forgiven you, you do not honor Him by continuing to sentence yourself.

1 John 1:9 declares, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

I have confessed it. God has forgiven it. I will not continue punishing myself for what He has cleansed.

You Can Win the Battle Within

The greatest battles are not always fought with hands, they are fought in our head. Sometimes the struggle is between faith and fear. Truth and lies. Peace and anxiety. Hope and despair.

But through Christ, you do not have to be defeated in your own mind.

You can challenge destructive thoughts, replace them with Scripture, and choose a faith-filled response.

Romans 8:37 declares, “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”

Today’s declaration - Through Christ, I am more than a conqueror. My mind will not be ruled by fear, bitterness, defeat, or hopelessness.

A Daily Mind Renewal

Yesterday’s victory does not eliminate today’s need for renewal. Negative thoughts may return. Old fears may attempt to reappear. Past wounds may try to speak again.

Renewing the mind is not a one-time event. It is a daily spiritual discipline.

Romans 12:2 encourages, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

Don’t take today off. God transforms our lives as He renews our mind each day.
