As the season of Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Grand Rapids draws to a close, we thank you, God, for the seeds of love and Gospel that have been sown in and through this church – in times of joy and sorrow, in times when we were faithful and times when we weren’t – for over 70 years.

For decades of worship, baptism, celebrations of the Lord’s Supper, weddings and the chance to bear witness to the resurrection, we thank you God.

For the friendships made and community partnerships nurtured, we thank you, God.

For pastors, elders, deacons, Sunday school teachers, musicians, men and women working in the kitchen, Stephen Ministers, Presbyterian Women’s circles, Eastminster Foundation Trust leaders, the Green Team and all the ordinary saints whose faithfulness is woven into the life of Eastminster and the Eastgate community, we thank you God.

For the Gospel proclaimed – in word, in mission, in sharing of resources, in the care we’ve shown each other and the least of these, we thank you, God.

For opportunities missed, relationships marred, things left undone and mistakes made intentionally and unintentionally, Lord have mercy.

For those grieving the loss of loved ones and the loss of this place of worship, Lord have mercy.

As we leave Eastminster’s building and grounds in the hands of the Presbytery of Lake Michigan and in God’s hands, we thank you, God.

For your promise to keep sowing seeds in the world, through us, in us and with us, we thank you God.

Please join us for Eastminster's last worship service on Sunday, November 19 at 4:00pm. It will be a very special service and we welcome everyone.

The Lord bless us and keep us. The Lord make His face to shine upon us, and be gracious unto us. The Lord lift up His countenance upon us, and give us peace, this day (night) and forever more. Amen

What a treat it was to have Pastor Brian Madison preaching at the pulpit today!

In life and in death we belong to God. Through the grave of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve.

In a broken and fearful world, the Spirit gives us courage to pray without ceasing, to witness among all peoples to Christ as Lord and Savior, to unmask idolatries I'm Church and culture, to hear the voices of peoples long silenced, and to work with others for justice, freedom, and peace. In gratitude to God, empowered by the Spirit, we strive to serve Christ in our daily tasks and to live holy and joyful lives, even as we watch for God's new heaven and new earth, praying, "Come, Lord Jesus!"

With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus Our Lord.

Update: additional pictures have been added

Last week, ladies from Eastminster Presbyterian's Ruth Circle and Rev. Laurie Hartzell joined Parkwood Presbyterian Church to hand off the jewelry sale program and celebrate the ministry and witness of the Ruth Circle!

The Ruth Circle at Eastminster, for the past 12 years, has hosted a jewelry sale - and all of the profits have gone to feeding hungry kids in West Michigan. In that time, they have raised more than $76,000!

As Eastminster wraps up their ministry together, this group of faithful women began looking for someone to take over this project and their legacy - and the women of Parkwood said "yes!"

Together, we blessed Eastminster's Ruth Circle, thanking God for their creativity, their passion, and their hard work; and we blessed Parkwood's new Ruth Circle as they begin their work in earnest.
Parkwood's first Jewelry Sale will be Saturday, September 9th as part of the Artisan Market, and all proceeds from jewelry sold that day will go to Kids Food Basket.

Thanks be to God!
