1 Corinthians 3:6-9 "I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God's service; you are God's field, God's building."

We had a wonderful time of celebration last week! We are grateful for all that Pastor Mike and his family have done for the past 8 years to care for the congregation. This week we extend a warm welcome to Pastor Rachel Bird who will be serving as our interim. We are excited to see how the seeds that have been planted and watered will grow into new life!

Today Mike Simmons' ministry at Orchard View Church of God came to a close. It was a very emotional morning filled with perfect blessings. We listened to our worship team play and sang with our congregation for the last time. We heard Mike pray, sing, and preach for the last time as the pastor of this very special flock. We served communion to them for the last time as Mike blessed them. And we listened to our dear friend, Richard, pray over our family. 💓

We were blessed with so much love throughout our ministry at Orchard View, but especially today. There was an abundance of hugs, gifts and cards, words of encouragement, and an amazing luncheon and cake. So many people showed up to give their thanks and support...our Christian brothers and sisters from near and far. We cannot give enough thanks to everyone that made this last morning there so special for us.

While I know how difficult this day was for me (I was a crying mess), I know it was even more so for Mike (he kept it together). He has been an amazing servant for God and His people. His connection with God and all people cannot be denied. Mike gives his heart and soul completely to God and serving others. Stepping away from this ministry was not easy, but Mike is at peace with it. I ask you to pray for Mike. First, that God will provide him with the rest that he needs. Also, that God would build him up during that rest to be ready for his next ministry, whatever that may be. 🙏

Thank you to everyone that has ever blessed our family during our ministry at Orchard View. It is a very special time in our lives that we will never forget. We pray for many blessings to be upon the people of Orchard View Church. We will always be family. 💜

I am going to miss this room. God revealed lots of things to me in this room. Ideas were birthed, tears were shed, words given from the Spirit to be shared with the congregation.
Pastor Rachel will take over and I could not be happier that she will be leading Orchard View Church. She is top calibre, in my opinion.
May God's Spirit continue to inhabit this special room.

This coming Sunday will be Pastor Mike's final week at Orchard View Church as pastor. During the service, we will have worship, a special song by Pastor Mike, Communion together, and a potluck luncheon afterwards.
On November 2, our interim pastor, Rachel Bird, will be assuming pastoral duties at OV.
Come out and celebrate with the Simmons' family as they pursue what God has in store for them next.

David Williams and Connie Chandler were united in marriage on Sunday afternoon at the New Hope Church of God in Belding. Pastor Mike, John Miller, Taryn Miller, and Conrad Miller all participated in the service.
