Bishop Walkowiak gave a wonderful shoutout to our seminarians at the end of the Chrism Mass, a Mass where the clergy renew the promises made during their ordination. This Mass is often very impactful to men discerning the priesthood, so Bishop Walkowiak's words were quite touching:

"I'd like to especially acknowledge our diocesan seminarians. You know for some time now we have been praying for vocations, and we know there are a lot of them out there, but these men have actually answered the call and discerned that they are to be in the seminary and so we want you know that as you hear this prayer prayed in a few seconds, know that we're praying for you and wish you every success in discerning and continuing to follow God's call in your life"

Congratulations to Isaac Schneider who received his admission to candidacy this year! Admission to Candidacy for Holy Orders is when a seminarian entering theology declares his resolve to study and form himself to the best of his ability to become a priest of Christ and thus becomes a formal candidate for Holy Orders. May God continue to bless you as you take this next step in your discernment to the priesthood!

Our seminarians studying abroad in Rome this semester, Jack McCarthy, Daniel Willison, and Dominic Klaes, have had many once in a lifetime opportunities since beginning their time in Europe. These include experiencing the Jubilee Year first hand in Rome, incredible travels, seeing Pope Francis at his last public appearance, and attending his funeral, but these are only the beginning of what is to come! They will be able to be in the city for the conclave, the election of the new pope, and all of the excitement that goes into this historic moment. What a powerful time it is for these three!
